Forza 4

It doesn't directly contribute to it, but what he is saying is that they wanted realistic lighting and a rich, detailed environment/car models for the showroom Kinect 'walkaround' parts, and in creating this new lighting model they were able to apply it to the whole game, resulting in the improved visuals overall.

Exactly and they mentioned that the ALPS track was a real test for their new lighting model. Simply because of all the snow, shadows, water, draw distance, tunnels etc. It covers a full dynamic contrast to ensure the lighting was upto the job and the car look (as they refer to it) as "seated" in whatever enviorment it is placed in. The new lighting does more than just reflections and adds much more realisim.

Their are however improvements to cockpits, even in game and noticable also on replays already shown. It is not just FM3 graphics, cars, tracks with new lighting added.

trying to not get as hyped as FM3 right now, I know it'll be spectacular, i know some people will whine & moan about the slightest thing not being there, but, the Forza franchise has never dissapointed me, I still play FM3 semi-daily, so I'm just trying to let some things be a surprise and not scour every single bit of media, also Driver: SF and Fifa 12 will take up some time, too :p

But i-bert, latte, just get along (Yes, I know, HE started it!) at least PiKe, while criticising, does also see positives and doesn't lve just to wind someone else up!! :D

(Btw PiKE, troll trophy on its way! ;))

Someone above said there was no evidence that Porsche would not be in the game. It's confirmed on forzamotorsport.net (under the hood part 1) that there will be no Porsche only Ruf. Thanks EA...

Yep, good old EA, even though Turn 10 had no issues sharing Ferrari with the likes of Shift (Why is that F in there?) EA have to be idiots and withold Porsche licensing, so infuriating! Spent yesterday in a 911 GT2, GT3, and the Flying Lizard race car :( Going to miss them, and the elegant squeal of the Carrera GT :(

No Porsche? That sucks balls. Some of the high end Porsches in Forza 3 are so well balanced and just turn so well.

Hopefully there'll be some decent RUF cars in there that are comparable.

EA should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves. The only upside of this is that T10 have confirmed it a good while before it hits the shelves.

Whatever EA may think, I won't be buying whatever that latest NFS is just to drive a badly modelled version of the latest Porsche.

Godammit :(

I enjoy the R3/R2 cars the most, and love the Flying Lizard Porsche :(

Can only hope EA pull their head out of their collective arses at some point in the future and T10 are allowed to include them as DLC.

Was playing FM3 last night just to pick up the last few achievements and I remembered the major thing that used to annoy me: you get a penalty for the lap if any AI car is in your slipstream at more than 100mph.

Why that's deemed to be penalty worthy I have no idea - you gain no advantage, and means your laptime is then useless for the leaderboards. I know you can go to a time trial or hotlap, but it's still annoying when you're leading in a race.

In the darkest realms of physics, there would be a tiny advantage to be had from having a car slipstreaming you, as it would reduce your drag at the rear of the car.

I read somewhere that the real reason was to combat some cheating that took place in FM2. If you got a mate you could arrange it so that you picked a car with great cornering, and they picked something with great top end speed, then you could literally use the speed car to push the cornering car along the straights, then take the corners at speed in the cornering car, then the speed car would catch up and push you along the next straight. It gave rise to some very silly lap times, because you could basically get some great times in, say, a D class that cornered well because you were using an S class to push it and achieve S class speeds on the straights.

So, definitely something worth clamping down on, though I agree the implementation is a pain in the arse in terms of how sensitive it is.

wtf happening here? thought it was real but soon realised its fictional

wonder if we can use the guns

edit: just realised this cars from halo reach and it looks like it aint drivable.

isnt this going to damage the simness of the game in many ppl's eyes? well i guess its just a extra car for vista but it still a weird move by turn 10

So far only two things annoy me with this title, 1) Whilst i'm looking forward to the portion of Forza 4 called AutoVista i'm not looking forward to listening to Clarkson's commentary. 2) Forza is losing a series standard in the form of the Porsche license. EA couldn't see their way towards collaborating again.

For that EA i might just "borrow" Battlefield 3 and Need for Speed: The Run.

Thanks for the loan ea :D

It's an easter egg. Did the mini flight simulator hidden in old versions of Microsoft Excel damage it's ability to spreadsheet? No.

As for Clarkson, he's optional. Just don't click the "Hear Clarkson" button in AutoVista. It's not like he's going to pop up randomly in the middle of the race saying "The Mercedes SLS has all the poooooowwwweeeeeerrrrr. In. The. Wwwwwoooooorrrrrrlllllddddd.".

Actually, that would be awesome. He could do the commentary on the races... Although he would end up calling me Captain Slow over and over.

Is it just me who really couldn't give a toss about AutoVista? It's like the stupid feature from TDU where you could 'sit' in the car and beep the horn.

I'm not massively fussed about it in the way that if it was never announced i'd never really ask for something like that in a game, but at the end of the day, I'll look through all AV cars, listen to the facts & the Clarkson commentaries etc.. I wouldn't say its a vital part of the game for me, but if nothing else, it looks stunning and will be both entertaining and informative,

Although in my eyes, if the Warthog made it into AV, the Reliant Robin should make it in as a drivable car :D

I'll take a look at AV. It's nice to have, but not an essential. I'd swap it for the inclusion of Porsche every time.

The Reliant Robin would be an interesting challenge for the physics engine. Rover V8 engine swap anyone? :D
