Hello

Does 1TB of ultra fast storage approaching 1GB/s in transfer rates for less than £400 sound good to you? If so take a look at this beast!! :D

Looks to be arriving the first week of september too ;)

Unique Hybrid Storage Solution for Performance and Value

OCZ RevoDrive Hybrid is the next step in the evolution of storage technology for power users, multimedia designers and game enthusiasts. The PCI-ebased RevoDrive Hybrid not only eliminates the SATA bottleneck to unleash groundbreaking bandwidth and landmark IOPS performance, but it also includes a high-capacity harddisk drive and intelligent software that integrates SSD and HDD into a single high-performance and high-capacity storage solution.

The OCZ RevoDrive Hybrid comes bundled with intelligent caching software that dynamically manages the use of the SSD with the 1TB HDD for superior overall storage performance. The most frequently/recentlyused “hot” data stays on the ultra-fast SSD while “cold” data remains on the slower but larger capacity disk. Advanced caching algorithms learn user behavior and adapt storage policies to ensure optimal performance for each individual user. Welcome to the next generation storage from OCZ Technology.

Highest Performing Hybrid Drive on the Market!
- Completecaching solution on a single card
- SSD performance withoutsacrificing a low cost per gigabyte
- Delivering an exceptional all-in-one solution for power users, multimedia designers, and computing enthusiasts

OCZ SuperScale Storage Accelerator
- Facilitates scalable performance for intensive workloads
- Unique complex command queuing structure (CCQS) with queue balancing algorithms (QBA)
- Higher performance and reduced burden on the host CPU

OCZ Virtualized Controller Architecture
- VCA 2.0 presents as a complete storage subsystem for superior data management
- Only virtualization layer in the industry with TRIM and SCSI unmapsupport
- Enables SMART monitoring for system administrators

Intelligent Caching Software
- Simultaneously manages HDD and SSD, learning individual user behavior to adapt storage policies
- “Hot” data managed on Synapse SSD for highest performance, access, and bandwidth
- “Cold” data routed to HDD for highest capacity usage

Looks like a great concept. I'll wait and see what reviews and other hands-on tests have to say about how well it really performs, but it certainly is tempting...

Sounds good until you need to write a lot of data.

Write 100GB of data and you'll soon be writing direct too a 5400rpm drive slooooooow.

Would probably kick in sooner if you have cached data there or more dramatically clear your cache data! causing the cache to have to rebuild.

Great for an every day use drive with big storage but no good for large file moves/storage.

Also way more expensive than a seperate SSD + 1TB 7,200 rpm HDD on a Z series motherboard.

Not sure what their market is here to be honest.

Anyone looking in to enterprise storage will already have a cache capable HBA or raid controller so would be cheaper buying seperate disks

Its essentially 2x Vertex 3 60GB SSDs in raid 0 with a hybrid raid to a TB 1.8" drive.

All in all this will be horrendously quick :)
