Counter Strike Global Offensive rumours

I am starting to think valve has lost "it".

Whatever next half-life universe game will be (unless its a puzzle, you can't go wrong there), it won't be anything as good as half life 1 and 2.

CS:GO is the begging of the end of the valve's excellence.

Completely biased and wild opinion of mine ^_^
 
Looks good to me and I'll definitely be playing it - but valve really should be releasing games on a new engine now, it's not like they've not got the money to develop one. I'm guessing they haven't bothered because they don't see it as profitable as the current consoles which they want to target are nearing the end of their lifespan. I think valve will come out with a new engine only after the next consoles have been released - so 2013-2014

Sadly, i put good money on you being correct. What are they thinking by developing Dota 2 and Counter Strike: Console Edition before our beloved EP3?

They're loaded!

It just takes a ridiculous amount of time to create a new Engine.
 
I'm interested to see what the new game-play modes will be, from what's been announced (and shown) so far we just have defuse and hostage.
Also I notice they are showing 2012 as a release date in the trailers, but allegedly the beta is due to start sometime in the next couple of months.
<idle speculation> put the game up for sale early and offer the beta as a per-order bonus (didn't they do that with CS:S?)</idle speculation>

What I saw:

Source + CZ treatment
Extra additions
HPE working on it
A new crosshair (really reinventing the wheel there!)
5v5 matchmaking

Did I miss something?

Yeh they're loaded, but seeing as new consoles will be out within 2-3 years, and in that time valve might release 2 games on that new engine, after which, the engine they've just made would be outdated and would have to be updated signifigantly - it just makes more sense for them to wait for the next gen of consoles before they work on a new engine as it will have a longer lifespan. I highly doubt a new engine would make more people buy dota2 or cs:go as they're both games that have a hardcore player base that will play regardless or not.
 
Valve already stated they have no plans of creating a new engine. They are planning to improve the source engine like the have for years now.

So don't hold your breath for a new engine, it's not coming for a long, long, very long time...sadly.
 
Doesn't look too bad.

Some of the textures and what-not remind me of Left 4 Dead 2 a bit, but as long as the gameplay/shooting is up to standard I'm not too bothered about the graphics.
 
It's about time CS was updated but after playing COD, BC2 and then watching these videos i'm thinking those graphics really look dated. I was hoping Valve would bring it in line graphics wise with modern shooters. However gameplay wise i don't doubt it will be epic :)
 
Basically as they said all they've done is touched it up abit and refined it for consoles with a pc version getting an early beta test.

I hate CSS and only play it on occasion with ocuk

Also that chat on the side, please take up more of my screen i can't quite see every pixel in each letter.

Erm, was this made by some crappy Korean F2P game maker? Thid does not look like a Valve product at all.

It looks abysmal becasue everytime I see a video i'm reminded how much CS:S ****s on this game.
