Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

Just left OMH and TKO RIMZ at it. I was enjoying watching more then actually playing while I was in there, definitely a set that needs uploading!!

shuzzbutt, you play quite like me, when i used to play abel (play defensive and pick a spot to attack). here are a few tip for you:

it seems you are too focused in landing the step kick, you should poke with s.lk more and use it like a measuring stick, because is a lot quicker and if it lands it usually means you are close enough to do a step kick. use the meter to get though fireball with ex cod and ex wheel kicks, aside from fadc combo and roll escapes thats the place to use the meter for. remember you can ultra his fireball for huge damage if you see it early.

and you should mix up your offence with some lock down block string when you are close. it is good for building meter and keep them on their toes guessing. you can also frame trap with c.lk or c.lp, close s.mp or close s.hp and confirm it into a combo or super. but beware the first hit of s.hp will whiff on crouching characters. cod is not safe unless you fadc, make sure you have the meter unless you are desperate.

i noticed you are quite timid after a knockdown. sometimes you might want to do that, but when ryu is out of meter you definitely want to make it count. abel can do a roll mix-up after the command throw with forward dash, and then roll after the grab. you can control which side you are on depending on which roll you used, and you can go for a c.lk, s.hp combo (use c.lp, s.mp if you feel you need to be saver, but your opponent can block this high) or overhead (close s.hk), or throw or step kick (hk roll get further away to give it more time to start-up) or c.hp after that. it is important to work on the knockdown game, because if it only takes 2-3 proper combo to take most characters out and this is the best position for abel to set them up.

you can do a similar mix-up after falling sky with back dash, roll.

on the bright side, you are quite good with s.hp anti air, better than me actually. but did you know you can also anti air with c.mk and c.hp? c.mk is the best because it beats most things. c,hp got nerfed so it is hard to anti air, but you get a combo off it so it is worth trying sometime.

Yeah his viper is amazing ggs

Did you play for long after I went? Those games are definitely worth an upload though, it was high quality play on both sides. I don't think he would have had that much experience against an Oni as good as yours, I am sure most people who started with Oni when AE came out have since dropped him! I don't mind recording and uploading the set, save them! Or Distorted can do the honours with an even better quality recording. :)

Played a few more after you left yeh, I beat his Bison quite badly and I think I beat his Seth and then he picked Viper and beat me twice. I'll save the good ones for sure.

@ vian siu, I appreciate the tips, I'm definitely too focused on trying to land step kick and my mix up game needs heavy improvment too. I am also gonna work harder at wake up, I think Distorted had me worked out too easily and made me pay for my predictable style!

noooooo!!! you dont want to do that lol. his abel doesnt not play like an abel supposed to. he will probably tell you random roll forward throw and wheel kicks are your best friend and neutral jump a lot or something. but i agree with the annoying to the point of rage part.

sadly only online:mad:;):D

Nope worked in a few tourneys I had at work aswell as with some friends. Theres no set way to play any of the characters, just go with what you feel is best. Shuzzbutt has excellent execution so he can pull off s.hp > cod > fadc > cr.hp > Ultra where as I struggle. After watching that video I see Shuzzbutt has picked up a couple of things I do (sweep after knockdown etc..), im trying to get used to step kick into TT but I struggle to figure out whens the best time to do step kick.

Oh and ggs earlier Distorted ;)

I want to introduce cr lk to st hp into my gameplay especially as a wakeup combo but as usual my execution is the problem! I want to get so good at execution that its doesnt even come into my mind wether I will land a combo or not so that my thoughts solely revolve around reading my oponent and mixups-

I spend most of my matches looking to land step kicks then praying to god I land the st hp/cod/fadc!! If I knew it would come out like clockwork I could then concentrate on actually reading and playing my oponent!

Bottom line MOOOOOARRRRE PRACTICE!!! :)

Your mixup game is very fluid where you condition folk to expect something then create the same setup again but surprise with something else! It makes you very hard to play and yes I'm stealing what I can from you! :)

Bottom line is online you can't expect to hit 1 frame links all the time, so you will be constantly hoping you don't miss it and get DP'd by a masher :(
