It's not though, it's actually a decent bit of kit. I haven't been near my ipad2 since this arrived. And it ain't that far behind, in fact in some ways I rather prefer it.

the iPad 2 is rubbish though, so it's to be expected.

.......Naw, I'm impressed, and jealous, and frustrated. I'm just going to take a leave of absence from the internet until the hype dies down. I just cannot take any more!! grrrr

Chiz, If its causing you that much stress google search 'hannspree hannspad tablet'. Costs an extra £50 but it will probably be significantly better. I know £99 is an amazing price, but at the end of the day its that cheap for a reason; webOS is **** and just doesn't sell.

If it's 2.2, it's essentially going to be an extended version of my phone, which is essentially pointless, considering, I have good eyesight and have no qualms browsing or reading text on my phone, which in essence is all a tablet is good for.

I do however thank you for that link because it looks a pretty decent bit of hardware, a lot more interesting that the Touchpad to be fair, albeit lacking maybe 0.2Ghz processing speed and some RAM here and there. Thank you though :)

I`m loving WebOS at the moment and am certain that WebOS was NOT the reason the Touchpad failed. It`s a beautiful OS that offers better multi-tasking than either the iPad or android and the browser has flash built in. The ONLY thing I've been disappointed with is the lack of document editing and that's being fixed in the next week or so.

Have you used honeycomb? I could not think ofan easier method for multitasking..... I've not used a touchpad however ;)

I think WebOS Cards are generally considered superior if you read WebOS reviews. I've played around with Honeycomb, but found it ugly and unintuitive - personal preference and all that.

Yep. Other than for a few select apps, I've used the Touchpad 80% of the time over my iPad 2.

Web browsing is simply so much better with flash. Website rendering also seems much more accurate and complete.

It's just a shame that the appstore is rubbish. Otherwise my iPad 2 would be up for sale. I would however eventually switch to Android, as it is the OS I prefer.

I can tell you now, there is nothing that comes close for £150. The only thing the hannspad has over the touchpad is a hdmi output an a card slot. otherwise it doesnt have an ips screen, the screen is a lower res, its nowhere near as responsive to touch, it has less ram, it doesnt have a camera ect ect.

The cost of the hardware and labour alone has been estimated at £180 and that's before you consider the cost of the software and any licences. If you think you are going to find anything better at £150 without any kind of significant sale then you are living in cuckoo land. The Archos 101 is £150 now (pretty much identical specs to the hanspad) and having played with one, i'm sorry but it's not even in the same league.

I wouldn't say it's good. ( I'm going by youtube videos and friend's reviews)

If it came on the market for £89.99 I wouldn't be interested - would you? WebOS ha no future... You're literally paying for hardware. That's it. The only hope the hardware has is for an Android port.

It is good though, it's just not £400 good.

It's probably £250 good realistically.

I think you don't understand what multitasking is.

How does the Touchstone work? Is it like my braun toothbrush? You just put the pad on it and it charges? Bit much for £25!

So, if we can't get an HP Touchpad, is the Hannspress Hannspad or the Archos 101 a happy alternative? Which is better to use? Personally, I want a pad for a bit of browsing, but mostly for watching iPlayer and movies. Is it possible to update the version of Andriod on these devices?

My girlfriend has been using hers since Tuesday and she really likes it. She does however prefer my Galaxy Tab 10.1 but I think that is mainly due to the apps you can get for it.

Personally comparing the two tabs the HP fails for me on some pretty basic things, its too thick and too heavy to be truly portable. I was watching IPlayer on my galaxy and was able to hold it in bed with one hand without to much problem whereas I got aches fairly quickly from the touchpad. I also prefer the aspect of the galaxy screen.

The HP touchpad does make a better fist of in browser flash videos although using the dedicated YouTube app seems to even them out. Saying that the Asus tab I had before this seemed to perform better than the Galaxy on in browser flash so it may just be a software issue.

Its more than worth £89 though.

Managed to bag a touchstone from PCWorld, and a case from Staples. Don't trust the online stock levels! You will have better luck instore.

What you just picked that up this morning? Where? I didn't think there was any chance of that.

edit: ah, touchstone not touchpad.

Does anyone know if the HP Touchpad Wireless Keyboard works with the iPad and PS3? Seems to be available for £20 delivered, so would be a nice option to use with both.

You mad?

For the tech it is an absolute steal. WebOS is not a dying OS, HJP just wanted to clear the hardware. WebOS support will be ongoing and judging by the amount of users now it'll supported even more by the enthusiast community as well known companies.
I still believe it was a clever marketing ploy to get their OS onto the mass market and create a huge demand/interest. The OS looks slick and I wouldn't have even heard/seen it had it not been for this firesale.

I'm still gutted Amazon cancelled my order :(

Hi,

Long time lurker here, was lucky to bag a couple through CPW thanks to link here so thought I would supply the following link on being able to use a demo unit if you can get one.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1229254

I also notice that a couple who bought at full price from Play were on here and they have now announced full refund down to £89 or £115. Just Amazon left to announce it now.....

Hope more come in for others here as its a great bit of kit for the price.

Maybe a little bit mad ;)

I'm being honest though. If it was released withought this hoopla I honestly wouldn't care.
