Deus Ex: Human Revolution

I dont remember a single game with waking up people like that. I'm currently going through without killing a single person (despite what the cutscenes say) and it would be impossible with them waking up all the time!

I'm pretty sure some used to wake up in MGS?

Yeah they woke up in MGS, the length of time they're asleep depends on the difficulty you're playing at.

I'm so unsure if I should get this or not, it looks unreal but, but... It's £30 and I shouldn't really buy any more games right now :(

Likewise, haven't bought a release title in ages, but after seeing the reviews and hearing people talk about it I really wanted it. I've also got Forza 4 and Arkham City on pre-order, which isn't like me at all!

Anyway.

I've just finished the first mission. So far it feels just like the first Deus Ex, which is great. I did most of the level very aggressively, just shooting everyone, but I'm usually like that - I lose my nerve doing stealth. I'll probably re-do it stealthily once I have a better feel for the levels, the AI, the game mechanics. I'm playing on medium difficulty and not struggling much for ammo, though I do have to swap guns a lot depending on what I have. The sense of exploration and investigation is good, with all the computers to hack and other things to read.

In terms of bad points... The enemy AI is pretty predictable so far, and when I've died it's because I've been a dumbass, rather than that they've outsmarted me. The voice acting is also pretty weak - I have no idea where that Pritchard guy is supposed to be from.

First impressions are very strong. I remember playing Bioshock and being disappointed that it didn't feel all that much like System Shock 2. This feels much closer to the original Deus Ex.

yeah i get bored of stealth the warehouse mission with the mercs ended up with a massive body count of piled up spec ops guys by a door they all tried to rush me lol

Those cardboard boxes that seem to be all over the place, are they for anything? I've moved a few and smashed a few but no goodies have been revealed. Are they there to just distract?

Just finished the first mission - fantastic stuff.

Hmmm I've just hit a huge problem I'm playing a stealth hacker carachter, I've made no concessions at all for aggression. Now I'm forced to fight a boss I don't carry guns at all. Can't find any guns in the room either..... Is this really game over?

If it's the first boss battle with "B" then head to the back-right of the room and check out a weapons cupboard thing.

The thing that's getting on my nerves BIG TIME is the stupid hacking mechanism. It's such an unnatural control to have to keep an analogue stick pressed in a direction and then release the X button. I keep doing it the other way round and it's annoying me.

I dont make it to the back of the room lol 1 second in the open and im dead. Tried over 50 times now this is getting silly.

Loving the game although I'm finding it to be one of those games which gives me a headache. Anyone else experiencing this? Might be all the Gold and Brown

Actually, yes. I thought I might just be dehydrated but everytime I play I have to take a break after an hour.

Odd, I managed to hide behind the pillars and avoid all his gunfire.

yeah but grens seem to kill me no matter what if i run from them im gunned down and he either circles the pillar or grenades me. Done it now loaded earlier save and took an upgraded pistol and some grens just grenaded him after cutscene put 16 bullets in his head ducked reloaded took two bottles of painkillers 3 more bullets did him. Real shame though that they didnt cater to my play style i specifically did not want to play it as a shooter.

I seem to have totally missed the point of augmentations. I've only upgraded the hacking levels one and have almost finished the game now. :D

Whats the easiest way into the scientists apartment? It's the side mission right near the beginning (the one where someone you know is being blackmailed).

I've just got to this bit and have to agree. I hate boss battles anyway - the original Deus Ex had some great ways around them. I've been playing DEHR all weekend but now not looking forward to yet another tedious boss battle.

I hacked the gate which was easy enough but no idea what the other options are :p
