Is this disabled parking space official?

I've no idea what point you are making now. Yes, we have plenty. What we don't always have is a legitimate parking space within 100 yards of every shop.

Look, this isn't really up for arguement is it, thats the reason disabled people can park on double yellow lines. It's to aid access to where they are going.

You and me can walk from the carpark. They can't. So they can park on double yellows, but they still must ensure they dont create an obstruction or they can be ticketed and they must not park in areas where there is no loading. So they can only park in the same places a truck could park, for example.

Then drive to another shop that sells what you want where you can park nearby without being on double yellows. Double yellows are there for a reason, that reason should apply to everyone or no-one.

unfortunately you're wrong and it pointless arguing because the law states that disabled badge holders are allowed to park on double yellows for the reasons we've laid out.

For as long as the law allows it, blue badge holders will choose to park on double yellows because they can. To make lives easier for themselves.

Quite why you're so against this i have no idea.

So you think disabled people should have to drive to a different town rather than park outside the place they need on the high street in the local town, because you don't like it?

Shall we ban the vans from loading and unloading on double yellow lines as well? Why should your idea only apply to disabled people?

2 reasons.

1. Equality.

2. A member of my family for many years has fooled the system into thinking he's disabled, for which he receives many perks, benefits, blue badges etc. He does not deserve any of these and it's the number of people like him who abuse the system who were found to be able to work etc in the recent government clamp down on disability benefits and the like.

well aim your butthurt at the people who fraudulently claim DLA then, not the little old ladies with hip replacements trying to get to the bank !

How often does your dear old granny need to go to the bank?! Can't you go for her instead of dragging her into town?

They can NEVER have equality because they are disabled! They would love to be equal to us but circumstances prevent this. Therefore as a developed society we alter some of our laws to help them.

So you want to remove the benefit from genuinelly disabled people because your family contains scumbags?

No, but I would like to see the wholesale review of who qualifies for DLA and I would like to see correct use of double yellow lines by the authorities and provision of adequate disabled parking in sensible places, meaning that the truly disabled get the provision they need without causing hazards by parking in truly ridiculous places. Then we could use yellow lines for their intended purposes, meaning no parking.

Any disabled person creating a hazard by parking in a ridiculous place is parking illegally. They can only park in places where there are no loading restrictions and they must not cause an obstruction.

We've all seen it to be fair. But by giving them the excuse to park on any double yellow means they will do just that. Give them clearly marked sensible places and take away the park anywhere right and things will improve.

That'll give you a good excuse to moan about all these extra disabled places popping up though. ;)

There - the norm is that parking is free. Being charged for parking is very much an exception and is quite rare - even when it does occur, its mostly limited to off-street carparks.

So we have to put it down to Stoke Councils rules and why the sign says what it says.
You cannot argue with what the sign says and I didn't 'shop it' (well it's on Street View for all to see).
With your guide there is absolutely no reason for the sign to say free parking for disabled badge users because that's the 'norm'.
It says it because in other parts of stoke disabled badge users do have to pay in normal parking spaces.
In fact Mrs Dimple got fined about 3 years ago when she put her Mums blue badge in the car and parked without buying a ticket.

Seriously dude, how you misunderstood the sign I have no idea. It's fairly clear.

You should read all the thread.
I explained that what you see on Street View looks nothing like in real life - there are no words on the road and if there are lines they are very faded.

Can people please read my posts properly?
I bought a ticket, there are ticket machines along there and I have parked there many times before WITH A TICKET.
The sign says 'Disabled Badge Holders Only, Free Parking'
This means people who aren't disabled have to pay - correct?

Sorry, I mis read you.:o

As far as the sign, free parking for disabled I guess, seems daft wording tbh.

Did you pay to park then?

That's on my dashboard

why should she have to grant me me a third party mandate to her entire account, just to save you getting all angst about it ?

I think you've fallen foul of wishful thinking here, you can appeal the ticket but I'd be stunned if you won.

It'd be much clearer if they re-painted the disabled sign on the road, but they haven't, and as the sign is still there and in exactly the right place (and outside a medical center of sorts) I'd have to say you chose to see it the way you wanted. I'd expect the council will too.

Was the pay and display parking area full? You may have a stronger case for a 'sorry guv honest mistake' if it wasn't.

To save her poor little hip maybe? Would save HER the effort and discomfort.

But seriously, how often does she need go to the bank? I can't remember the last time I went into my bank for anything!

Have you any idea how you are coming across in this thread?

Do you seriously think that the best idea is to simply have disabled people stay at home and have everyone else run errands for them?
