With the best will in the world nobody can live his entire life strictly according to his own moral values. Though at least in this particular case I've never claimed for compensation following an accident (That said I've only ever been injured in an accident once).
That doesn't mean we shouldnt have moral values or we shouldn't moralise as part of a discussion on an internet forum.

Okay, I did step out but I had to reply to this and reply to this with a legal saying.

It is the cornerstone of the law of equity and also in Tort. The law of tort, and in personal injury claim allows the claimant to claim for loss and loss only.
There can be no betterment.
The process is to put the claimant in a position as if the accident never happened. Such as if he has sick pay from work, he won't get a loss of earnings claim. If the jeans that got teared in the accident is worth £50, he has to prove it is worth £50 with receipts, else he won't get £50.
So, the law agrees with you 100%.
On paper. In practice any numpty can claim whippo with a note written on the side of a fag packet.

Whilst I find the though of claiming compensation from a spouse unpleasant, lets just imagine he is a self employed builder and his wife doesn't work.
I totally hate false insurance claims and it is true that this is the reason we all pay too much for insurance (until we need it that is)
The OP was injured, if he is unable to work for 6 weeks or so this could have a major impact on his familys earnings, many places now only pay SSP.
You need to consider personal circumstances and only the OP can decide.
Morality has nothing to do with it, insurance is a waste of money right up to the point that you need it, it then suddenly becomes the best money you have ever spent.

Its fox hes so anti claiming and arrogant most of the time it's hilarious. Just try ignore him its what most of us do.

Quite, I don't deny there are a lot of false claims, and there are people who jobs, in fact a whole industry who solely deal with the investigation of this aspect.
Hell, they don't limit to small whiplash claims. Falsely claim can be embedded in a legitimate claim. i.e. someone who got run over by a lorry when on a bike. Has permanent hip problems, no one disputes this fact, she walks with crutches and in her mid 20's. Loss of earnings claim legit, she worked for a multi international company. However, amongst her claim along with the usual was a claim for a Dog walker. That would be acceptable if she had a dog before the accident and now need someone to walk it for her. Except she never had a dog at all, ever.
That is not a valid head of damages for example. But people can claim for this, and they do, it is for the other side to knock it back. It is human nature to "milk it all it can". Sad, but true. No point to get upset or angry over it.

I don't see the problem. How is this different from the wife accidentally spilling a drink on an electrical item and the OP claiming for accidental damage for repair or replacement cost on the household contents policy?

Clearly you know very little about the insurance sector. Go away and do some research, or simply maintain your ignorant bliss. Either way, I probably won't lose any sleep.
Seems a totally valid reason to claim to me, not like whiplash, this injury can be proven and is causing pain and likely loss of earnings.
Wife is gonna have a claim against her anyway, so don't see the big issue here. Just seems like a lot of crying about increased insurance premiums when the insurance is paying out as it should do.
To those who say "would you claim off a family members policy" I would insist anyone injured in my car claimed off my insurance, it is the reason I pay it, not just to be road legal.
