lol

As said, you, and the rest of us, have played the alpha, but I've got a sneaky feeling the full game may be just a tad more graphically intense

Indeed, theyve already confirmed ultra settings, but apparently some people in here seem to think the alpha was pretty much it in terms of performance.. Wish people would just wait for the beta and see how that performs.

Just to point out that I play BFBC 2 on max graphical settings apart from the AA, HBO which is turned off at 1920x1080 with this spec:

i5 750 stock
4GB RAM
HIS turbo iceQ4 512MB

FPS on average iirc is around 45-50, the game feels very smooth to me, no lag or slowdowns at all really even during heavy explosions and smoke etc.

However the alpha didn't feel very smooth even at low/medium settings, I can't remember what FPS I was getting.

I expect it to be better performance when the beta and final game is released, due to better coding and better drivers.

Even recording the alpha with fraps felt weird, with 2 cards running i was getting 120fps but it felt a lot less than that. Eyefinity was also a no-go, getting roughly 40 fps in that, in bc2 map dependant maxed i can get upto 90 or so.

Sledgehammer has been moving itself to the forefront of Call of Duty development by being very outspoken about the series over the last few months.

When a fan accused Modern Warfare 3 of copying Battlefield 3 Sledgehammer's Glen Schofield said;

“We (the people behind MW3) haven’t copied BF3 at all. No need to and never seen much of it. We’re making the sequel to MW2, that’s what we look at.”

In an interview with NowGamer Sledgehammer's Michael Condrey explained what brings fans back to Call of Duty every year;

“It (Call of Duty) is fun, it’s fast, it’s 60 frames per second, what 60 fps mean is it feels smooth, you’re in the action right away. I think that’s what’s been bringing fans back time and time again to Call of Duty.”

So things have got so bad all they can do is claim a better framerate on an ancient game engine?

Wish people would just wait for the beta and see how that performs.

For the beta in BC2, it was pretty much the finished game. It wasn't like there were many tweaks to performance that came after it was released, it was more like weapon balancing etc. I reckon BF3 beta will be much the same and what we see will probably be what we get.

I did not see Bad company graphics properly till I owned the full game. Beta might also be reduced and its time limited also I guess.

I wish they'd just do a proper demo level and if its good people will buy

you'll be fine at 800x600

Very likely

DX10/11

4 series will play the game to some degree

I believe 4 series will be fine presuming the computer has enough fast memory to cache all the textures. Obviously not max but I think they will aim for the middle ground which is basically the older cards like 4 series and up to run it smoothly.

Someone said 1920x1200 is normal now, disagree with that. If you run that spec you'll always need a more powerful card.
'Normal' or common spec to me is gear that was last produced two years ago, older then that like the dx9 stuff and it becomes ancient and anything new is for the flash kids :p
CPU demands have advanced faster then gpu, not exactly sure why

heres another couple of pics i snapped :

(looked pretty crap, lighting just looks weird like its illuminating more than it should))

Cool shots, not a lot of detail, reminds me of crysis 2. I doubt any would need a monster rig to run this?.

^^ from the early reports you need at least a quadcore pc to run game which means anything less than a q6600 overclocked to 3.6 wont run it.....even a dual core e8400 4.0 wont run the game.

graphics wise anything below 4870 including 4870 wont run game, this is what alpha testers are "claiming"........

lies then :p

i know loads who played beta and tbh hardly anyone had problems with it.

some had stock q6600 some had very high overclocked intels and phenoms.

4870 should be ok or card of relivant performance for 1680x1080 but probably not high settings.

dualcores i wouldnt get the game though without upgrading or play beta .

glad the beta will be here soon and half of the circus clowns can calm down on the internets :D

I ran the alpha with a 4890, and I was getting around 30 - 40 FPS at best. If people are happy running at that FPS the 4890 can still pack a punch. But I want more FPS, so Ive just bought a nice new 6950 :)

No...........If it not on steam then am not pre-ordering it or buying it

That is pretty lame tbh. Even if it does come out on Steam it will require Origin to run it, so you may as well just get it on Origin?

The browser based Battlelog system is shaping up to be pretty incredible as well. I like Steam as much as most, but this game has a much more advanced friends system than Steam. It will make gaming with your friends so easy.

Out of curiosity, know anyone who has been playing it on a tri-core? I know my HD4770 will probably need an upgrade, but I'm wondering if I can get away with my Phenom X3 720.

As you said though, I'm glad the beta will give me plenty of time to upgrade before the full release once I've a better idea of what I need.

There was an update during the beta I'm pretty sure increased performance and one of the later updates for the game also had
Performance optimisations. The new beta patch for bc2 also has some more performance tweaks.
