What is the creepiest thing to have ever happened to you?

About 8 or 9 years ago, I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth before bed. It was around midnight and the door was locked, my family were asleep. Suddenly the door handle moved, so I assumed somebody else had woke up. I called out that I'd be out in a sec, expecting a reply but didn't get one. I carried on and then the handle shook up and down violently for about 5 seconds. Annoyed by their impatience I opened the door to find a dark, empty and silent corridor. I checked the bedrooms and everyone was asleep, and besides there wouldn't have been enough time for anyone to do that and get back to their room. Told my family in the morning and they swore they knew nothing about it. Weird!

I was travelling in Bolivia with an ex girlfriend a few years back. We had just spent a week trecking in the Jungle and were back in LaPaz for a few days before our flight up to Quito, Ecuador. So we were walking through this crazy witches market which had all these dead animals hanging up including dead birds, dead rabbits, along with other crazy south american peasant good luck charms and the such.

So anyway there were signs hanging around saying no photographs, but my ex being the kind of person she was decided she really wanted a photo of one of the 'witches', and me being a bit of a fool at the time, got my camera out, framed my picture and clicked the shutter... The witch I photographed gave me the most dead stare I have ever seen, and all of a sudden my back literally felt like it was on fire, like I had fire ants crawling all over me biting... I ran like a shot and pulled my shirt off and didn't stop running for about 200 meters!!!

Anyway, to cut a long story short, the episode fully affected me and now I believe there are hidden powers which should be respected and if a witch doesn't want her photo taken, DON'T do it!

Ps I dumped the girl, she was no good for me :D

This was posted on these forums a few years ago, but it's well worth a read (even if it's most likely fiction). Basically a caving journal some guy makes about his journey into a cave and the subsequent bizarre and creepy discoveries that follow.
I remember reading that years ago, but it led to another site I'd not heard of before, called The Dionaea House. Another long read, especially when you get into the parallel stories they provided. Pretty good stuff.

Anyone know of any others like these? Good way to waste a few hours. :)

Do you still have the photo?

Well last night topped anything I have ever experianced!!! ...

Sounds like it was a slow transition from a dreaming state to the awake state. I've had some truly mind bending experiences during these transitions, like objects in my room shape shifting right in front of my eyes, dark humanoid figures slowly receding into the shadows.

I still, to this day, have dreams where i'm lying in bed asleep but sort of half awake with my back turned but having this distinct feeling that something is behind me. I often phsyically feel something pressing against my back, which is quite painful sometimes, i cannot move in the dream what so ever, im completely paralysed.

I've had these dreams for as long as i can remember, freak me out each time :(

if sleep paralysis wasn't a normal, everyday, unsettling experience would people actually buy into the paranormal? If sleep paralysis didn't exist, Mary probably wouldn't have thought god raped her and we wouldn't have christianity;) Other religions would probably tumble too.

This happened when I was really young, maybe 4, 5 at most, on holiday. We went to some caves (I can't remember which, we always went to caves when I was younger), and we reached a big open cavern, in which you were restricted to a single walkway. The tour guide was at this point talking about the whole 'these were made by thousands of years of bla bla bla', so I got bored and just wandered to the railings and peered through into the cavern. Right down at the far end I could see a person walking along the floor of the cave. Eventually, he stopped and looked around, at which point I started waving at him, which caught his attention and he waved back. He then clambered down some fallen rocks and out of site round a big protrusion.

A couple of minutes later, the tour guide said how during the initial renovation, for lack of a better word, of the caves, when they put in the railings, the lights etc, a worker had been killed when the people putting anchors into the roof for the lights struck some weaked rock, which broke apart and fell on a worker below. She then pointed over where I'd seen the man.

Ghost? Probably not, but at the age I was, I was fairly convinced I'd seen that guy.

Answered a ringing phone, and I asked "Hello?" only to hear my voice echoed back and then a scream. I was like "WTF!?" and then went back to play Gran Turismo 3. :p
