***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

Just got this & after waiting ages for patch downloads/installs I am now waiting for it to load onto my HD. Holy ******* throbsville Batman, I've made T twice, made food, been a shop, walked me dog, rolled a bazillion ready mades & still it says Installing. :mad: + :p
I'll report back what I think in about 3 years 4 months & 19 days. :D

There is only so much content with any game, however where GT5 improves is when you play online against other people.

How did you become a shop? Did you get down on all fours and position yourself into a box?

It's better than grinding and gets you 5xx,xxx credits most of the time each race. As well as new helmets, race suits and paints.

It's only far too easy if you max out your car for every event. For some of the events with the supercars, Lemans latest section? it takes me until about lap 5 on certain tracks before I've caught up to first. As they have a 30 second lead or so at the start.
 
This is a really dumb question but how do I borrow someones B-Spec driver? I'm on their profile and I can see several drivers but clicking on them brings up the drivers profile and the only option from there is to close the page. I haven't started B-Spec at all if that makes a difference. :)

EDIT: Don't worry, it looks like you can't borrow them, but you can set them to online for use in remote races. Thought they would have allowed sharing by now! :(

EDIT2: While I'm here is anyone able to let me borrow a Ford Mark IV, Ferrari 330 P4 or Jaguar XJ13? I need to do the Dream Race trophy. Thanks in advance. :)

I just don't play online for that reason. The Indy F1 course and Fuji is even worse. I've seen people do this:

Aha, I see why. Expensive cars. Full 20 million. Painful. :o

That Ferrari 330 P4 is a beast. I managed to borrow one a while back.

not played this since the start of the year, 380mb update when i put it in earlier
is the main purpose the seasonal events to gain money and increase your level
I really can't remember because I haven't played for a long time but the level points seem to have changed a lot

Pretty much, without the grinding. The latest Nascar event that went up, 1.5 million credits a win.

That's odd, you've been able to borrow cars that people are sharing for a good while now so you should've been able to do so. Setting a car to online originally just made it unusable for the owner and only allowed others to look at it, not use it. They added the ability to actually use the car in one of the patches though because I've had people borrowing some of my shared cars quite happily.

Yup I'm looking in the same place, when you click on one of their cars it gives you the option to borrow it, when you do the same with the B-Spec driver it doesn't give you any options, you can look at him, but not borrow him! :p

Still I'm not that bothered, there's only a few trophies related to B-Spec mode and I don't think I really have the patience to watch all of the races after already playing through them myself. Switching the TV back and forth would probably get annoying as well.
 
Uh, ok I think I must've misunderstood what you meant, it was late and I was tired (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it) :p I thought you meant the actual cars, not drivers.
 
Can't even remember what I'm sharing now, it's been so long since I last played :o FGT I'm sure I'm sharing and my 'vette RM too. Mmm, think my purple Gallardo is there too along with a couple of others. Guess I should boot the game sometime for a play :D

I'm grinding for a Ford Mark IV. This new NASCAR seasonal has helped a little bit. :)
 
Um, pretty sure I've actually got one of those as well as the Ferrari 330 if you want to borrow one. I'll have to boot the game and set one online though which will have to wait an hour as I need to go shopping now :)

Sure, that'd be good! I only want it to get the Dream Race trophy. :)

Currently stuck doing this stupid Jeff Gordon Special Event, I can't even stay in 10th place on Advanced 3. :mad:
 
No problem, got the machine on now and once it's updated (ANOTHER one? Come ON Sony, at least give us something worthwhile occasionally) AND I've updated the game to the latest patch, I'll set them online :)

And fffffff, NASCAR. I managed to get the trophy for the NASCAR special events I'm pretty sure but I wouldn't want to do it again, and I gave up on the NASCAR event in Pro or whichever category it was in because that final race on Daytona is ridiculous.

Anyway, check my shared cars in the next 10-15 minutes or so and I should have them online.

edit: was a little delayed, done now though, put all three cars online so pick whichever you like :)
