Second hand Sapphire 5970 (sold as seen and untested).

Well I can see the difference now, yes. I have never looked at pictures of that card before or seen it in the flesh either. I could never have afforded to look at such an expensive card. I like nice things if I can afford them but for the most part, a spade is just a spade to me. I can't afford to think any other way. I'm about 6'7" tall and weigh about 19 stone. I don't get many people taking me for a fool, so I can afford to take things at face value. Thinking negatively about life isn't very productive. Life is hard enough for us all as it is.

WTF has being 6'7" got to do with anything and who said anything about spades  I thought we were talking about graphics cards??

Still on there at £250 buy it now with the dodgy description. 5 attempts to buy it but they look like they have been declined, the seller will know the score now but is stupid enough to keep the card up.

I have just sent this message to the "Lady" known as Albert via e-bay

"Hi Albert, I just thought i should let you know what you are selling as in your description you say you don't know what it is or if it is complete. What you have there is the cooler/heatsink from a HD5970 and is worth maybe £10 and not £250. So, now you know what it is you will be able to change your desciption and buy it now price and then at least you will be able to sleep soundly in your bed without thinking you have tried to rip somebody off and also you will not have the Police knocking on your door accusing you of fraud.

Thanks"

:D

Not just that - but Paypal will force them to give the money back and "albert" will be left with negative feedback. Even if it isn't their account, they will still have to give the money back. I just don't get it tbh.

This thread is really odd.

We have an OP helping a scammer a lady who he does know, then does not know, is then defending her, who is giving us lot's of useless *** bits of information that have nothing to do with anything. Apart from reminding us that they are a man. A big man.

OP, if you are not the scammer, why are you still going on about it? Why are you still supposedly communicating with this scammer? WHY!?!?!?!

Yeah very odd, but I reported it just incase some innocent 3rd party parts with their money and gets a shell... thats just not on.

Please don't bad mouth the OP as he is a 19 stone, 6' 7", disabled christian and he will report you to overclockers if you 'slander his name'

I do actually think we should leave him alone now as he has explained himself and i think these are the main points to consider.

1) He did not say he knew her he said he "knew of someone selling a GPU" in the original post. He did not want to tell us where he had seen a cheap 5970 as we could buy it instead of him.

2) People seemed to think he was the e-bay scammer as he knew a lot about the scammer on e-bay but this was just through conversations he had with the scammer through e-bay messages.

3) I think i was the first person to say that the OP is possibly the e-bay scammer and i have changed my mind on this through TooCool's posts he has proven to me, even though he did not really have to, that he is not "Albert"

So, to TooCool, i am sorry to have started off the "slander" of your name and i think we should concentrate on the scammer rather than the OP as the thread is just going round in circles.

Explains a lot, just read a few posts by the OP, mega troll job if true.

Since when does trying to be honest make me a troll ? I've got nothing to hide or lie about. Like I pointed out earlier on to another poster, I'm not a child.

TBH, I only put what I put in that post because I was feeling victimised by some of the posters in here and do you blame me ? I have been called a liar, some people have given me the impression that they think I'm stupid because (shock, horror) I took something at face value and trusted somebody's word for something, I have been basically accused of being a con-man, and other things in here. And, since when is trying to be a nice guy and living a simple life become a crime ? As far as communicating to her is concerned, I was asked to a page or two back. She has not replied but that was to be expected. Neither has she added more pictures and that was to be expected as well.

Thank you very much. I appreciate the apology and your thoughts a lot.

OP, do you really want a 5970? Because they're other good cards about.

Nah, even if it was complete I couldn't use it. My new PSU isn't powerful enough. I'm gonna buy an ASUS GTX 560 Ti DirectCU II TOP with my birthday money next month. Unless someone wants to give me a better choice. A 6950 would intrude into my drive bays.

If you are waiting for a month or so then things may change quite a bit as the new AMD cards are due, hopefully, next month. Who knows what will happen with the prices of current cards so you may get a bargain.

Couldn't agree more.

Double check the specification from the actual spec sheet rather than generic ones, I had a similar problem, found some 6950's were 11+" while some were only a shade over 10". The XFX cards I purchased were for this reason, they come in at something like 10.02", while the larger Asus DCUII cards were something like 11.6" and the TFIII's were about 11.3"
