Test done on my Zte Blade using GiffGaff.
Hmm normally get around 3mb and lower ping but it's more enough for browsing.
Edit: better speed now.

in barking i won't even get the 3g signal.. so i have to stick with Edge or GPRS both of which are DEAD SLOW

My credit has finally ran out so what options do I have to put more on in terms of what I get? I've seen the unlimited texts for £5 but that lasts a month. Do giffgaff do normal top-up's of say £5 and it'll be on my phone till I use it all up or does normal credit have a limit on it too?

You can buy normal credit, and it will be saved until used up fully. Therefore if you know you wont be doing much, a quick cash top-up is ample, and with texts costing just 4p, its pretty decent if your a light text'er, etc etc.

Also like previously said, it will be valid on your account until used up completely :).

Cheers mate, was super easy and i've whacked a tenner on. Shame they won't let you put on a fiver though, i'm a 'super light' user. :p

Aaahhhhhhhhhhh trying to decide what method to use to pay for a new phone is so stressful. AAAHHHH

Anyway, I want the SG2, and was going for an O2 24m contract with ultd texts and 200 mins and 500MB, but then I found Giffgaff (it seems to be a recurring theme in my phone-buying exploits that just as I decide on one thing something else suddenly appears which makes me want to change my mind).

So, going from that, I see these giffgaff goody bags which for £10 for 250 UK minutes, unlimited UK texts and unlimited mobile Internet (truly unlimited, apparently, which is awesome as I would like to be free to go on as many websites as I want without worry), which looks pretty awesome. The only thing giffgaff doesn't offer is the BT openzone and cloud wifi along with the data. Considering Durham (where I'm going to uni) is meant to have good signal for O2, and giffgaff uses the O2 network, that is also a plus point.

So now, of course, buying the handset separately, then paying £10 a month looks like a better, and cheaper option. I'm just a little worried that they might stop doing such a good deal soon (nobody on the giffgaff community seems to know for sure), and then I'll be out of pocket and have to sign on to one of the big providers again, but at increased cost (compared to a contract all the way).

I get 610kb/s download, 115kb/s upload and 130 ping :DDD MUCH faster than my ISP, and cheaper too. Tethering is also free. A shame about the ping though, and I don't always have a perfect signal. And tethering is generally un reliable (for me, anyway:()

Forgot to mention my phone, it's a Dell Streak.

Is it possible to get a micro sim or do I have to cut it down, that it's that much effort.

Take it there's no issues with finding settings and using with iPhone.

I believe you can "order" micro sim's through people on the Giffgaff forums. They should have something in their signatures about ordering, and there is a thread about it somewhere aswell. It's also really easy to get the APN settings, I don't know if you can set it up for MMS though, I can't on WP7, but I think that's a WP7 thing.

Edit: Link to order Micro Sim

Double edit: Seem's I was a little late. :P

Waiting for mine, currently on Tmobile payg £10 unlim internet and texts. 250 mins is a bonus for £10 a month :)

Just canceled Vodafone which was £20 a month, going down to £10 for same amount. However I left O2 due to poor 3G, if it's still bad, then I'll try 3 which is also £10.
