Hey Guys

Wonder if you can help, i was upgrading my sisters PC and was running the hard drive out of the tower, the OS loaded up perfectly on first run. So I shut down the system, then i remember that i would need to uninstall video drivers before installing the GTX260, Upon reload Windows logo appeared then the O/S shut down which was stange, So i started up the system again bios "NO HD DETECTED" holy mackerel of god pls no. before i took the PC she said please don't delete my photos!

iv'e tried different SATA Cables, also as slave on my pc and still not being detected. what the heck has happened?

Data Recovery aint cheap either £150 + a pop.

Thanks.

Dave

When you do that, does it appear under Disk Management (Right click 'Computer' or 'My Computer' & select 'Manage')?

Very strange for it to die just like that. How did you place it when outside the machine?

Software-wise, recommend Active@ File Recovery. Its very good & powerful, used to recover files from dead HDs on several occasions.

It was a straight surface of the case.

Yeah tried disk management, ill give that software a try.

The only strange thing i noticed that after the HD failed, the weight of the HD was shifted to one side,

buy an identical drive, swap the PCB's

if that dont work your £150 data recovery is gonna at least be £300

first check all the cables, try it in another PC etc...
