Games that got critical acclaim but you hate?

Starcraft 2 - Offered nothing new if you ignore the flashy videos.
Dragon Age - Nice looking characters but limited paths.
Crysis - Started good with smart graphics and physics, but deteriorated into generic fps once the eye-candy became used to.

The new Deus Ex. I just can't get a good feeling for it at all. Will try to play it some more as hopefully it will eventually grab me as I loved the original. But right now, I'm just not enjoying it :(

I really am Gob-smacked with some of the posts in the thread. But then I guess this is what the thread is for. As for me I bloody HATE Minecraft... I really just don't get it?

Oblivion though, depends when you played it. I played it near release and it's one of the best games I've ever played in my ENTIRE LIFE. You have to remember the game was released well over 5 YEARS AGO. And RPG's like Oblivion don't age as well as FPS's etc. Despite that though I replayed it an also lot in later years with tweaks and mods and what not to make it look even better.

Oh and I'm going to become a recluse when Skyrim comes out!

Mass Effect.
All the hype about it, picked it up in a steam sale. Hated it compared to Dragon Age Origins.
Just didn't get into it in the slightest.

Crysis - Started good with smart graphics and physics, but deteriorated into generic fps once the eye-candy became used to.

Crysis 2 - Loved the first game and it had allot to offer but it got consoled to death and it had to be somewhat rebooted so console owners would understand the story and to be honest it really bugged me because the potential Crysis 2 could have offered... makes me sad. Nomad and Psycho? Prophet was an epic character and his stunt at the end of the first Crysis got me pumped up for Crysis 2 but New York? Meh.

Still I enjoyed the game surprisingly, you had to forget about the first one to enjoy it though.

World of Warcraft - I like the idea of vast open game space but paying to play? That can dig its self a grave!

Modern Warfare 3 - Its not released yet but seriously buying the same game for the third time? And Blizzard finally intervened with Call of Duty Elite. Milking every penny they can. Oh and the limited edition Xbox 360 they must be really worried about Battlefield 3...

I thoroughly enjoy the single players though.

You were playing them wrong ;)

Quite possibly! I can understand the fighting/defence mechanics of games like Street Fighter, but when the people you play with decend in to frantic "smash attack as fast as possible", it takes any element of skill from the game. Saying that, I never played against people who knew the ins and outs of the game and if I did, I'd have been cained!

Fallout 3, Oblivion, Mass Effect... I hate Bestheda's way of storytelling. Give me Valve any day.

Also CS and CSS. Basically any game in which you can be shot without knowing who shot you. I much prefered the game dynamic in TFC, where unless you were a sniper you knew you'd have to fight like a man.

STALKER. Just don't like the feel of the weapons and the looks of the game. Probably needs modding and I'd like it much more but CBA at the mo!

This thread really does show how diverse peoples opinions can be, I've seen the majority of my favourite all time games in here :p

Dragon Age - I just couldn't get into it, nothing to keep me playing, a pretty dull game overall for me.

Oblivion - To an extent, I don't 'hate' it, but was a bit disappointed with the fact I didn't get on with it, especially after being a massive Morrowind fan. I might try again, but with Skyrim round the corner I'll probably give that go instead.

I don't hate the COD series, just dislike where they're going. Loved the original 2, some of the best fun I've had shooting my mates online. I did enjoy MW1, but as every title has came out I've enjoyed them less and less. Can't see MW3 being purchased.

WoW - most antisocial game on earth.
CoD Black Ops - linear rehashed crap.
Batman AA - just couldn't get in to it!
Shogun 2 - loved the original, wanted to love the second, just couldn't get in to it.
