Hi Guys,

I have a quick question. Will any USB headset or will a Bluetooth Samsung stereo headset work with the slim ps3 ?

Bashy

I am pretty sure that any plug and play USB headset will work. Bluetooth headsets should work fine as well.

I have heard that some USB headsets do funny things with the sound though. Make it way too loud or way too quiet. The volume control on the PS3 doesn't help enough and the volume control on the headset doesn't function on the PS3.

Personally I would buy the official Sony headset. A few of my friends have the Gioteck headset and the difference in voice quality and volume is definitely noticeable when compared to the official headset which I and a few other friends use. I'm pretty sure that the PS3 supports the majority of Bluetooth headsets though so if you have one I'd try that first before you do anything else.

If you want a better headset for the ps3, get the turtle beach px21s. They are abit pricey but it allows me to hear peoples footsteps ;D

I don't like the official one - it's too sensitive. I have to have my TV sound on practically zero or else people on the other end can hear it. Is there any way to adjust the sensitivity? There doesn't seem to be noise cancelling like on the Xbox one.

u got it in HQ mode? I have my sound system up fairly loud and no one ever complains about the sound from them.

As above make sure you have it in HQ Mode, the only other thing you can do is turn your TV down, wear headphones or press the mute button on your headset and then unmute when you want to talk. :D

10.3 HQ mode

The headset’s High Quality (HQ) mode enables wide-band wireless voice communication with the PS3 system. It uses the headset’s dual-microphone design to enable proprietary PS3 system-based noise cancelling, and provides better radio frequency interference rejection when it is turned on than when it is off.

By default, HQ mode is on when you first pair your headset and PS3 system.
HQ mode and noise cancellation features are only available for the PS3 system, not with other Bluetooth® enabled devices or mobile phones.
To turn HQ mode on or off:
  • On your PS3 system’s Home Menu, go to [Settings], then [Accessory Settings] and select [Manage Bluetooth® Devices].
  • Select the headset from the list of registered devices, press the triangle button, and then select [Information] from the options menu.
  • Access High Quality (HQ) Mode.
  • Select On or Off.

Yep, it's in HQ mode. At normal TV volume, I see the little "talking" indicator continually on in games and it doesn't go away until I turn the TV down to 3. I normally have it on 15.

Not sure then sorry! :o

Do you sit particularly close to the TV? I'm about 4 feet away from mine and I've never noticed my speakers playing through my headset. The only other thing I could suggest would be to delete it from the Bluetooth devices and then re-add it, see if it makes a difference.

Have you checked with other people that its actually transmitting sounds? Far more likely the game onscreen icon is being sensitive than the mic itself - I'm sure in FIFA I see it transmitting all the time but no one normally mentions they can hear my game sounds...

ps3ud0

Another vote for px21's from turtle beach, i love mine, there really light weight, comfy and the sound quality is great, with the wide mode selected you get an effect of surround sound to so people creeping up on you can be picked out.
