Snapped my derailleur hanger yesterday, I must've bent the derailleur a rocky section because as soon as I changed to rear big cog it caught in my spokes and snapped off.

Scared the **** out of me!

Happened to a friend of mine mid way through a 30 mile charity cycle.
I was right behind him when it happened. What a racket! Had to walk/freewheel the rest of the way. Bad times

Don't really have a comparable bike to the Mega at the moment, will have to wait around for the Sukuma.

Yep, lots of nice bikes on display.

Lapierre is the main brand they seem to stock. Think he has just got in a 2012 Zesty 314 (don't quote me on that though) Lovely looking bike
I've just bought the last of the Nukeproof frames. The scalp that was on display earlier in the week was bought yesterday. Proving very popular by all accounts.
 
Has anybody heard of or used cranbrook cycles (based in Kent)? They're the only place that has the bleed spacer for my brakes in stock so might as well order that and a new lever from them.

Following up on this, how would you package it?

Was thinking of going to Merlin, asking them for a bike box (card) that they would just be chucking out and use that and a ton of bubblewrap.

Need to keep the weight down as its part of baggage allowance (30kg) and I guess the bike will be ~12kg plus packaging.

I need to take as many clothes as possible too.

Put a bit of pipe lagging round the frame to protect it.

A cardboard box works well. Airlines don't like you packing your bike with your clothes - but I do that anyway. Some airports can't weigh your bike either because it's so big. So you can get away with extra weight. ;)

Take the RM off and zip tie it to the inside of the frame. Deflate shock/tyres a little bit. Bubblewrap / pipe lagging or even frame padding that comes with bikes. Your LBS might have some spare.

He even test rode it after bleeding the brakes! Loads of disc brake cleaner and pads later all was well. He is now in dales.....:(

Thing I always found is that small independent shops need repeat business and survive on quality and expertise through their employees, whereas big chains like evans employ any old tom dick or harry because theyre more concerned about sales than quality or expertise of employees.
 
I went into J.E James in Chesterfield today and almost got my arm twisted on buying a mountain bike.

Still not 100% on buying one yet as i am not sure if ill use it much or not. So still got some thinking to be done.

I use to live by Kona when i was in my young teens and i think ill still stick with kona today as i have never had trouble with any of there bikes ( except all 3 of them ended up getting stolen)

Ill be looking to spend about £600ish and only using the bike for personal pleasure at weekends and weekend holidays ect ect. Anyone got any recommendations on where to look and what to look out for?

DHB do a bag, but I only need a one way solution, so I had planned to just bin the box at the other end.

Are you not planning on shipping other stuff over there? In your case, i think I'd rather ship it than have it take up allowance.
