Tv licence

As said look above.

But you need a tv license to watch or record any LIVE broadcast doesn't matter what channel or what form (tv, Internet)

Legally yes, in practice no.

Huh?

Q: Do I have to observe the speed limit?
A: Legally yes, in practise no.

Q: Do I have to pay for food at Tesco?
A: Legally yes, in practise no.

Q: Do I have to refrain from stabbing people?
A: Legally yes, in practise no.

I know of someone who only watches iPlayer programs after they have been broadcast and TV Licensing are happy she doesn't have a TV license. She has no TV only a PC and does get regular letters from TV licensing

I have to admit I thought if you had the capability to watch live BBC you had to have a TV license but obviously not as you can watch live BBC on the iPlayer.

Andi.

Its a form of Tax so yes.

A form of voluntary tax. If you don't use the service you don't have to pay.

By service it means any live broadcast BBC TV content and other channels as the TV licence helps pay for transmitting costs and other things for other channels too.

that is legal. If you have a tv you have to pay the license.

nope. If you have a tv and watch live tv you need one. If you have a tv but don't watch live broadcast stuff then you don't need a licence.

That's a bit spurious. There are plenty of taxes that you only have to pay if you use a particular service or incur the relevant transactions that are subject to that tax.

You are legally required to have a tv licence, but in reality not owning one will not result in any issues. Your analogies are thus absurd.

Not holding a TV license while watching live broadcasts, etc will result in your breaking the law and potentially being subject to fines.

So there are issues resulting from that, yes?
