First port of call is just a pub which at that time of day should be fairly quiet. As said Verve bar's dance area is on a lower level, from what I recall the main bar was like most. Wasn't loud music and had plenty of areas to sit and chat.
I only suggested there for after the meal because I'd won a "prize" as mentioned in my original post :)

Meh, transport is not so bad for me, I am only down the road from London in Reading.

Even go as far as to say that I can even get the train back after all the drinking antics.

Would offer a place for people (maybe 3) but will be at my mums as moving back to hers tomorrow and she is redecorating at the moment (after I convinced her that smoking in a house makes it stink after 20 years).

But will ask, quite a relaxed old fart she is lol. However my step dad is a old school punk rocker so anyone staying will be woken by punk music at 6am.

The thing was, worryingly, no one batted an eye lid... Must have been the norm for Brighton...
