Thick-headed racists never cease to amaze me

All races contain idiots, There isn't a race in the world that is perfect
There is really no such thing as "races", for example, there is no such thing as "human races" only the human race with variety within the human kind, like, for example - dark or fair skin. If you look back in history there is where you will probably see how "races" came into the forefront of mans negative thinking powers, like for example some negative nutters asperion of "white superiority" rubbish, even dark skinned people have negative mental attitudes and can allow themselves to sink low.

It came across like that to me as well.

And obviously me.

Wicksta -
On my run home, from when I worked at a factory for years, I used to run through an area called Normacot every evening at about 5:15pm.
During nicer weather I would be on the end of racial abuse and being spat at but thankfully never physically hurt.
I have also seen knobheads in various foreign takeaways thinking they are clever with their racial slurs.

I also live in Stoke On Trent, an area that had/has 7 BNP Councillors, so yes I have seen 'similar' things from both sides.

To be fair, Stoke isn't exactly the place you want to be if you want to avoid funny accents and some form of racism in one way or another, bruv :p

I'm glad we moved down here to the South many moons ago.

Some nice houses in Normacot - http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Nor...=Yy8oz-gpcLVNINYn81hHtw&cbp=12,182.69,,0,4.02

I watched the front of those 4 houses being built by about 20 Muslim men while their wives cooked their food at the front.
Every night I would stop my run to see how they were doing and be given a glass of orange.
It's just a pity their kids aren't nice.

Also I've got some Asian mates who live down this street - http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Nor...rM1X5w-oMDDWa0v_bsmCA&cbp=12,163.71,,0,0&z=19
I went to see one of them and was taken into the house where the bloke led me through about 7 houses to where my mate was.
There were doors in all the walls leading to each others houses

I have to say in a lot (but not all) cases, racism is down to the parents.

I remember when I went to primary school, 10-12 years ago and 8 year olds were calling 1 or 2 asian kids the p word, or poo face or something.

I really don't think they know what they were saying.

I disagree. In this case it is stupidity however.

You don't think racism is an indication of stupidity? Surely you understand how stupid it is to prejudice some one based on the colour of their skin, right?

Racism is an indication of stupidity, but it doesn't mean they can't/don't show signs of intelligence, or excel in certain areas.

Excuse me for being ignorant, but surely the work "p word" you refer to is only racist when used in certain context e.g. the word Brit is used to describe a British person, just like the "p word" is used to describe someone from Pakistan. It's only when you add a swear word in front of it that it becomes offensive surely?

Of course, it's racist because of the context it's used in. It's no different to "Brit" or "Scot" when used in its purest term, but most who say "****" don't actually know whether the person is from Pakistan or not. It's along the lines of "you all look the same so I'll call you a ****".

The presence of a swear word is completely irrelevant to whether it's racist or not as it can be racist without a swear being next to it.

Absolutely not.
There is no place where that word can be used now by a person who isn't from Pakistan.
It doesn't matter if you agree with it or not, that is the fact, the P word is derogatory no matter what context it is used.
If you stand in front of a copper and spout those words, even in an innocent manner, then expect something to happen.

That is a very slippery slope you're on. Surely the offensiveness of a word is down to the intent behind the use of the word?!

Indeed that is correct.

If someone called me it I'd stamp my foot and say "MY PARENTS WERE BORN IN BANGLADESH THEREFORE I AM BANGLADESHI, GET IT RIGHT!" and then run away into the distance.

More an indication of bitterness and depression in one's own life.
Reading numerous news articles, here and in Sweden, saying very bad things about non-Western immigrants doesn't help matters.

You are right, of course, but times have changed, and in today's society it would be quite rare for someone to use the term '****' completely innocuously. (Cue the usual stubborn OcUKers insisting that it is a harmless term and that we should accept it). I agree- we should accept it, as a word it is harmless and should be harmless, the fact is that it has transformed. It's just the way it is.

Same goes for the word 'gay'. Once upon a time this meant 'merry' or 'happy'. Then it meant 'homosexual', which it still does of course, but it is also a widely used derogatory/negative term, which is unfortunate, but it is just the way it is.
