***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

Have you tried the Lotus event? can't remember the name, expert? first white badge near the middle of the selection. That Lotus Elise is extremely hard to drive. Nearly completely sliding sideways around some corners.

I'm not sure which one you mean sorry. I'll take a look tomorrow. :)

Anyone done the new Mercedes Seasonal event? Its impossible with the tyres they give you!

I had a quick go but it's not really my thing. I'll get lynched for saying this but I really dislike the Top Gear track. It doesn't help that the car handles like ass. The version tuned by the GT Team in the AMG Driving School is a beast though, perfect setup!

It's a 3 event entry. One is a slow Fiat event that I can only manage on the tail of first place. Second is the Lotus Elise race and the third is the Subaru X-TI something 18 inch wheel that I can't seem to find.

I find it harder with traction control. It's like the Lotus Elise, when you get out of shape with traction control it does more harm than good. I find I can control the wheel spin better with no traction control. When it's on it seems to put you in a slow spin since the power cuts out and I lose the rear end. I don't like that at all.

Sadly it can't be switched off on this event.

I've done the Mercedes seasonal, took me a few attempts to get the gold but I got 1:17.992 then made a swift exit! :p I could improve it but I just don't want to as I'd done 10-15 laps and was sick of it.

I also noticed the lap disqualification system didn't seem to reset the timer after completing a perfect lap, that annoyed me too :p

On my first attempt I went on the grass before the start of the first lap and the disqualification message came up three times so I thought **** that and just left to do some proper races. :p

Been playing this a few days now, really not feeling the love I'm finding it so drab and boring.
Why does my Evo slide of the corners at 40mph and feel like it has wooden tyres..? The Handling in this is far from realistic.
Will give it a bit longer and see how it goes.

Edit - Just had a go in arcade with some of the better cars which seem to be more fun. The carting is also quite good. I think I just need to give it more time or find a lots of money cheat....

Moogleys, it's probably because an Evo, on road tyres, will slide at 40mph in the real world, as will any car if you turn sharp enough.
The handling is very realistic.
Fit some race tyres.

Yeah will give it a go, need to work out the menus as well. I had a quick go at the carting which was good fun.

Will have a better play tonight.

good.
I sent friend request.
Can set any car to shared, just ask.
Can send you anything from the new dealership under 1m credits (there's a 1m cr trading limit btw).
Have already sent a car today but if I remember tomorrow, just ask etc.

:D

I'm not even competitive on the rally stages, for some reason any car I try handles like absolute crap on those tarmac rally tracks. Even though they're clearly on a good road surface there's hardly any grip whatsoever. That Grand Tour event where you have to drive the Murcielago in the night is absolutely terrible. :(

Can't remember what I used now for the rally events. Pretty sure I ended up quitting and coming back to them though once I'd bought some lightweight rally cars to use. That made them more bearable :)
And that night event in the grand tour was horrible yeah, I managed to get a bronze I think then quit as I couldn't be bothered with it.

For the beginner and intermediate rallies I used an FT-86 :)
Then an Impreza rally car for the expert (massively overkill)
Are you struggling with snow/gravel/tarmac or all of it?
Try using manual transmission, try adjusting diff settings, ride heights, spring rates :D
Sorry I can't remember what sort of settings I used.
Failing all that I'll make my RS200 shared, if you can't win them in that...
