At least with Apple being strong we will see new challengers come to the party and we can see them go at it hammer and tong.

I'm really not happy that they are waging IP wars just now though! Cause its hacking me off and that route is bad for their image.

the IP wars are because everyone copied apple when they saw how popular the iPhone was

The latest twist is an odd one.
Basically Motorola had 5 patents, 2 of which are relevant to the iPhone.
Apple were paying Motorola $$$, so not breaking any laws.
Google then purchased Motorola, and transferred the patents (for free) to HTC.
HTC then refused apple the right to pay for the patent usage, and are instead now asking for all apple products to be banned in a counter-suit.

Can open. Worms everywhere.

Am i the only one who remembers how everyone! described the SGS ?

"Oh yea, it looks and feels like an iPhone 3gs .. but more plastic"

Sorry, apple have a point with their case against Samsung. And there's billions of quotes from users online to back up their claims.

I'm sorry but the IP wars have gone passed acceptable, there is too many IPs and trademarks these days. Hell I think its darn right wrong for companies to trademark words, greed drives this these days and far to much of the world is driven by greed. We know this well as we wallow in the bank and personal debt driven recession we have now.

Don't get me wrong, i think its stupid as well.
But Apple were well within their right to take legal action against those they did for the reasons they did it.

As i tell everyone who's spamming every site covering the IP wars (lol it has a name now :D ) blame the system for being so crap/useless, not the companies who are simply obeying the law.

Thing is, these IP wars have been around for years. Caldera/SCO/TSG have been at it since 2002 (only going quiet in 2007 because they ran out of money).

What's different this time is that there is physical hardware involved, so judges can have jurisdiction and bar it from their patch.

None of this will hurt Apple, Samsung, HTC, Motorola, Google or their like. It's the little guy that ends up taking the heat for this because the patent trolls without anything of their own to sell think that if the big players can do it, they can too.

So app writers get legal summonses for patent infringements that are so tenuous as to be laughable - if only the little guy had the resources to prove this in court (which of course they don't).

Just like copyright laws, patent laws were invented at a time when mobile phones, the internet and social media had barely even been thought about, let alone made real. Both laws are broken.

But I do rather like the idea of Samsung using 2001: A Space Odyssey as prior art. Nice move if they can pull it off. :)

I follow a lot of rumor sites and other than a wider screen and a better camera, Apple really has kept this one under the radar. Anybody think we'll ever get fully functional bluetooth and maybe a 160GB iPod Touch? Since the Classic is pretty much dead. I'll probably be getting an iPhone 5, if its worth the upgrade. My question is, will it be an iPhone 4S or an iPhone 5?

Nothing there.

I checked the link this morning. They've changed it. It had 4 different variations of iPhone 5 there, white 16GB and 32GB, then black 16GB and 32GB.

Personally I didn't read much into it at the time. But it is interesting now to see it being removed.

my iphone 4 is sat at £200 on the bay
3 days to go
i sure hope the bids start going up again
i dont want to be adding loads of extra cash for this ip5 ?
