Going for surgery tomorrow

Coincidentally, I just got back from the dentist after having 2 tin fillings replaced with white ones. I had 2 done last year with no anesthetic, but thought I would see how non-men get their teeth done :p. I'd never had an injection at the dentist before, and I had some kind of reaction to it. I suddenly got very close to feinting and started seeing spots like I was severely dehydrated. I also started seeing a bright light even with my eyes closed, which was pretty scary. I thought I was going into some kind of shock due to the anesthetic and would have a heart attack and was concerned that I have not written a will.

I lay down for a bit and had some water and a glucose tablet and then I was OK fortunately.

Sure you will be alright though! :D

Tried any White Noise Lately? :p:p

I had a really bad experience when coming round after a GA op - felt like the worst hangover ever threw up and splitting headache - not nice. And since I was on NBM there was nothing coming up, just bile. Other than feeling nauseous for a day it was fine. :)

Bonne chance - you'll be fine! :)

I woke up during the op for about 5secs when i was having my tounsils out!, How do i know this?. Cause I remember the doctor looking over me, me spitting blood out and what was on my face at the time. Woke up got my stuff and there was the device and the doc was outside

Very rare case that though and we are talking 20+years ago
I'm pretty sure I woke up during my tonsil op as well. This was also well over 20 years ago

Have had a couple of general anaesthetics since and it's been very different. I remember lots of sickness and dizziness afterwards when I was a kid. Now you're under for much less time and I had no after-effects at all.

Friend of mine had GA a couple of months ago and the anaesthetist had to use "the old stuff" from 15 years ago, he woke up very ill.

Op is tomorrow afternoon so I've a day hanging around as an NBM, probably going to be the worse bit

I had most of my amalgam fillings as a kid with no anaesthetic - prospect of a needle in my mouth was worse than the drilling to me

Had my first general a few months back for hernia surgery.

Such a strange feeling, being knocked out. Was worried I would resist it but no chance of that happening!

I was dreaming about something and it felt amazing whatever it was. Then disorientated I opened my eyes, saw a couple of nurses and said "you look amazing" and something like "what a sight for sore eyes". Took me a minute to realise I wasn't dreaming and I felt like a complete plum.

That was the pleasant bit, the matron asked me if I felt sick - at that point I didn't but about 10 minutes later I couldn't stop being sick (which lasted nearly 24 hours), every time I reched it strained the wound and was excruciating.
