Quad core Samsung Windows tablets

I really can't wait for W8 tablets, but another 14months to go
Not really, most companies have stuff on the drawing board now, the intention is to release hardware for the beta/RC Win8 around summer so people can be testing in the wild, then the official release will just see the final models with Win8 preloaded. I read on some blogs that the main drawback will be the CPUs, picking ARM doesn't seem worthwhile now as the software support is unknown, so Intel's SOC is the obvious choice, once that is out, you can expect lots of Windows based tablets.
I just came here to post that! It doesn't say battery life though and it doesn't appear to have the same specs.
A low power SB? Hmm, interesting, very interesting... 
(it's 'just' a dual core though

I wonder what battery technology they've used to achieve 8 hours? Considering it's a 17W chip with a 11.6" 400nit display that's a significant improvement over the current gen right? (unless 8 hours is just standby, 1-2 hours of actual use)
Shame about all those vents/probable fans on the back too. Must get toasty after while... oven mits at the ready!
The next Intel SoC (Medfield right?) is still based on the old, in order Atom architecture.
A 32nm die shrink should give it a good kick up the *** but it'll still suck Silvermont in 2013/14 should be Intel's first true ARM competitor.

The performance should be better than what we have now, plus, people do run Win7 on netbooks, so it may work out to be OK.
The reason i mentioned Intel's SOC is because companies will want a small, low power solution for lower priced devices, though Samsung are about to release a £800 Win7 tablet, which will be an area of the market tablets are headed.
So maybe it wont matter that Intel's SOC will be bad, Intel are chucking out Atoms with WiFi, RAM and all the motherboard for $60, add a touch screen and battery and you could have a Windows 8 table for $200, similarly, you can have a $2000 tablet that is a workhorse.
Of course, there are rumours that Apple are producing a high end Ipad, but I also read that it will feature an Intel CPU, so maybe if Apple do it, others will too.

that tablet has the same cpu as the apple macbook air, so it will likely run closer to 5 hours rather than 2.
I like it and depending on the price and reviews I may get one, the stylus is a good point in my eyes as I do design

Ungh looks pretty poor, like an attempt at a new UI just shoved over an existing OS, kinda like ME. The ribbon interface is total trash

Nothing like that at all. It's windows pretty much rebuilt from the ground up. Loads on new APIs and ways to do things, makes it super easy for developers to do stuff. Makes it a seamless and easy system for the user.
This is a massive step forward. This is a bigger step then even xp-vista.
