Hi there.

I have an interview tomorrow with Royal Mail to be a Postman (31 hrs a week), I have background of sorting mail and loading (DHL) so I'd like to think I have a good chance of netting the job, Nerves are starting to kick in now though - It's been a good few years since I've been to an interview because I've been at DHL for about 4 years.

I've sorted the mile long list of documents/photocopys they require, So any interview tips are welcome, Especially if we have any posties on the forum! :)

kind regards.

ps, Thinking Pin-striped suit?? or should I just go with a plain black one?

dont see how the suit colour makes a difference.

practice answering the 'interview questions' that they are likey to ask. this helped me a lot. lots of stuff on youtube and such other sites about giving good answers for the questions.

Edit: best of luck pal

Practice the usual questions, be friendly and personable, be enthusiastic.

Suit: wear the pin-stripe.

Dress to impress is the only real tip I give in these threads! Relax and of course be yourself :)

remember the standard greeting when meeting a business type person is to punch them in the face (male) or breast (female).

if you don't do this you will be eaten

Advice:

Do not introduce yourself as StonedPenguin. Use a more normal name.

Hold a hot cup of tea/coffee before hand so your hands are warm, apparently makes a good impression when shaking their hand.

Would you introduce yourself as Judgeneo in an interview? :D lol

Interesting about the warm hand shake, I'll see what I can do, cheers :)

Wear a suit and tie (even if it says casual/smart casual), shave and get a hair cut if necessary.

Make sure you make eye contact, smile and rest hands on lap. Don't be afraid to ask questions, research Royal Mail and show enthusiasm. Be prepared for any questions you think they might throw your way.

And make sure you shake your prospective employer's hand firmly. I personally can't stand weak handshakes.

Do not under any circumstances wear a skinny tie.

Sure thing Gov' :) cheers

Ask them about their theft and lateness policy.

lol :D

Thanks for that, much appreciated.

Personally I've had quite a few interviews recently and I'd try Googling something along the lines of "Interview at Royal Mail". They will use a standard technique across the country so its probably more than likely someone has asked the same thing and will have the questions they were asked in the interview.

I had an interview at John Lewis on Tuesday and I of course Googled it and knew exactly what I would be doing. I got the job today :p

Black-up and say your name is Jamal Reginald Winston III.
