Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [17th - 19th September 2011]

I don't even know what to say... I'm speechless. What now?

In fairness, your squad isn't THAT bad. Your first team certainly isn't bad.

You need a new manager and new staff (and then get a few more players in come January).

Wenger is far too stubborn and will keep playing like this, that much is obvious.

Our last EPL game was 1-0 win against Swansea which is almost as depressing as losing 8-2 and 4-3. :(

Yup, the thing is that Swansea performance simply put, was rubbish, the Utd performance had a significantly worse team/squad than any of our other games.

4 goals to Blackburn is much worse than 8 against the best team in the league, also with a stupidly depleted squad, though again much of that was down to retarded players getting themselves banned, and Wenger relying on sicknotes, as in, that whole situation at Utd was completely avoidable.

All a complete joke, Blackburn are pretty rubbish, their defence for our goals, and the entire final 20 minutes was embarassingly poor, just non existant, ours was just worse. Complete joke, Ramsey consistantly gets caught on the ball and makes some really awful passes. Song, is Song, as soon as I saw he was actually passing ok for a change I thought, somehow he'll do something worse than usual to make up for passing better than usual....... own goal.

Koscielny, meh, Santos, retarded, Arteta for the 3rd goal was ridiculous, none of our defenders watching Yakubu, Arteta next to him had time, ran infront of him, and kept going. If Arteta just stepped infront of Arteta, between the ball and Yakubu, no goal, instead he ran off into a big pile of players where he wasn't even slightly needed.

RVP, horrible lone striker, horrible, and provided the best cross of the game, Chamakh can actually score....... if he's given any delivery at all.

Team's a joke, if you could build a fantasy team right now with any funds, pretty much RVP is the single player you'd pick, 2 years ago that would be 3-4 players but not a massive gap between several others, 6 years ago, I'd only pick a few players from other teams.

So far our best result is a gifted win against Swansea, and a draw from a not great Newcastle, woooo.

There is zero chance Arsenal will finish outside the bottom 10 imo. There's a difference between having a bad 5 matches and doing that for a whole season, they just have too much quality.

I might have to agree with the new manager to some degree, whenever I watch teams and the way they adapt to playing Arsenal I always think that Arsenal never try and play a different way against the likes of: Stoke, Man Utd, Chelsea.

When Man Utd used to play Arsenal they would change there formation and pick the players that would affect the game for them, Wenger doesn't seem to think we need to and tbh we do.

LOL maybe but if we cannot beat Blackburn, a team who cant defend soundly then it says it all...wheres the quality exactly??..RVP??...ok but i cant say any of our other players are quality...Wilshere and Vermaelen both injured, both quality players and they are out for a few mths at least...

I agree that the squad isn't *that* bad, I don't know if we need a new manager or not, something needs to change though. He said we spent all summer practicing set pieces and look at what happened today. Most of our problems so far this season have stemmed from leaving our transfer business so late imo.

LOL the way we have been playing...its not beyond the realms of reality that we may very well be fighting relegation...perhaps thats what we need in order for Arsenal to sort their ****ing crap out...

At the moment its highly embarrassing to be an Arsenal fan :/...im raging with anger but also laughing with embarrassment at just how low we have fallen....losing Fab and Nasri has hit us much harder than i originally thought.

Nasri hasn't got a lot to do with it, we've literally no strength, no leadership, no drive in central mid, we've lost Cesc and Wilshire, Cesc I've told people for 4 years, is one of the best players in the world and very few people have realised what a truly ridiculous difference he made to the team.

the 31% loss rate without him, 64% with him, thats literally relegation without him and title winning with him. WE didn't replace him and we got worse in 5 other positions.

When the transfer window opened to make a title push we needed to sell the 6 worst players, and buy 6 better players in, thats where we started. Instead we sold 6 of our best players, so needed 6 new guys, we still needed to sell our 6 worst players, we screwed ourselves massively.

Had Wenger been fired 3-4 years ago when this situation was clearly going to happen, we'd have kept a huge number of quality players and a half decent non completely insane manager would have replaced injury prone or plain crap players years ago, we'd be fighting for 2-3 titles this year, instead we could very easily be closer to fighting relegation than to get into even a Europa league spot.

A team that can't defend soundly, yet their two centre backs were linked with Arsenal.

Arsenal are finished. Europa league is all they can hope for.

Actually i think us losing to Blackburn today is far more shocking and embarrassing than losing to Utd by 8 goals....simply amazing how we just capitulated today.

Trouble is, if this carries on, Mr Persie is probably going to want to leave.

and he is the only player in the Arsenal squad that you could start to mention as sort of world class.

Just out of interests DM, Who would you like as a new manager if wenger was to get the boot? I think he does need to go for Arsenals sake.

You realise with a much better squad we won 2 of our last, 11 games last season iirc, which means in the past 16 games, we've won 3, Blackpool Swansea, and fluked Utd, we've got 16 points in the past 16 games.

Thats with 11 of those heavily involving Wilshire, Cesc, Nasri, etc, etc.

Its not 5 games, we've been rubbish for a while, and its not points, its not unlucky losses, its not dominated, made dozens of great chances and lost utterly unfairly, its mostly playing crap, then playing worse the next week, then worse again.

If we were playing well and dropped points, I'd agree with you, good football will eventually win points, but crap football, playing badly and getting beaten fairly, thats not something that just comes good.

Arsenal beat Stoke at home as well after we lost to birmingham in February didn't they?

You talk about not being unlucky, against villa at home last season arsenal had a goal ruled out for offside.

Today two own goals and an offside goal against us, you can't really legislate for that. What I'm most surprised at is the players that we're being told have such a good spirit are arguing on the pitch before kick off.

Ok fair enough Nasri i dont think was that big a loss to us really compared to Fabregas, whos departure is a massive gaping hole....i dont know if and when Wilshere gets back if he will make a difference like Fabregas did for us...there were times he literally won us games singlehandedly and i dont see any of our current players who can and will do that :/...

I dont know what Wenger can do, i dont think his system is working anymore...maybe back in the days of Henry and Bergkamp it worked because we had players who played to the systems strengths but not anymore.

Meh i just dont care anymore, i really dont...as much as i hate to say it, i hope we struggle this season because then maybe then Arsenal and Wenger will do something about it....god i really dont want to see the damage City and Chelsea will inflict upon us if this is how we are going to play.

Indeed and maybe if Wenger and Arsenal stop trying to be so bloody cheap we could have had those 2 along with Cahill but nope it didnt happen...maybe in Jan it could but i dont hold any hope because Wengers problem is that he has his head firmly deep in the sand.

Europa league??...even that i have a feeling we will struggle to qualify for. Today was a game we should have won easily to sort of kick start our EPL season but didnt happen...
