So I won an iPad 2. Do I keep it?

Take off and nuke the tablet from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Why not pop into your nearest electronic retailer and try out a demo model before opening? What's more important, £400+ in the bank or a 10" tablet?

You have a Touchpad already. I'm not sure what you mean by 'the next step up'. Yes the ipad is generally better, but I can't think of a work-based activity that you can't do on the Touchpad that you can on the ipad - which was your intended use for it.

The Touchpad will be getting Android within the next few months in any case so it would seem crazy to spend out money on an Android tablet.

Sell it, tablets are over rated and this one over priced.

Not really, both me and my dad have touchpads and will be using them for work as we can store our full works catalogue on there along with price lists and other stuff which saves taking a bulky catalogue around with us.

I'm starting to use mine more than my laptop when I'm at home as it's quicker and easier most of the time.

Everyone I know who's bought one uses it to just surf the net and then tries to justify it's worth the money. The hardware spec to price is awful.

Who said its intended use was solely work?

The TouchPad has next to no apps, that's the step up.

I just wish the TouchPad, Galaxy Tab and Transformer would have a lovechild to produce something that looked as good as the Galaxy, had the dock and ports/readers of the Transformer and the wireless charging of the TouchPad.

When are the next gens due out? And what are they supposed to be?

As for apps, games for occupying me during train journeys etc and then just the usual ones I have on my phone: WhatsApp, BBC News, IMDB, Soccer Livescores, ESPN Goals, Sky Sports, Sky+, Facebook, Google Talk, Trillian, Movies etc.

The iPad swings me because of the greater range of games and an existing Sky Go app.

Lol.
Nothing to do with touch screens or smaller things are more expensive.
Look at laptops, price to components specs are rubbish compared to a desktop. It's the form factor over everything that is more important.

I can justify the cost as I use it every day for hours at time. Be it browsing this forum far to much, to watch films on it. It's well worth spending the extra for a neater form factor and the convienence.

I'd sell it and wait for the post Christmas sales slump, then either purchase a heavily reduced price Android based alternative or the new improved Ipad with even more jiggery pokery :)

As gaming is fairly important and you use 'mainstream' apps like the Sky ones etc, the iPad will suit you down to the ground. Get it opened, nothing comes close to it in that regard. ;)

Skygo app is awesome for watching football, especially if you use Virgin trains a lot (free Wifi gogo!)

Android fans are probably waiting for the Galaxy Tab 7.7 in the immediate future?
7.7" sAMOLED+ with 1280x800 and 200ppi (DROOOOL!)
1.4Ghz exynos SoC (bye bye Tegra 2)
~300g (half the iPad 2) and a true portable form factor (jacket pocket etc)

PS Vita!!!

That'll come with many mainstream apps (Skype, twitter etc. SkyGo too probably...)
You'll get lots of exclusive AAA games with built in tactile controls with the usual mobile ones. Perfect!
The 5" qHD OLED might be too small for film buffs though...

Well, that's what I'm getting for my portable media device next year :) The phone and macbook/netbook* take care of the rest...

(*Hoping for a Window 8/ICS/osx transformer type thing to replace those)

Overpriced, costs less than Samsung 10.1...

I would sell it if you have the Touchpad already. I'd rather have £350 in the bank personally, then you can always get one of the new ones/wait for an Android port on your touchpad.
