Who here owns a Renaultsport?

Gustov didn't you buy it with inheritance money or something in the first place? Just enjoy it, you've spent a fair wedge on aftermarket parts... slow down! Or even get a job that you do have to drive to :p

That's a lot of money you're paying for the insurance Gustov! I'm 21 this week and paying half that amount.

Any car is going to need an MOT annually, need an annual oil/coolant/filters change, petrol (the Clio's MPG not being 50something doesn't matter as you're not doing any miles) and need taxing (yes I'll admit the Clio's tax isn't the cheapest ever).
If it wasn't for the insurance I'd say just stick with it TBH. Maybe just stop spending money on mods?

They aren't expensive cars to run and maintain, providing it's not on it's deathbed.

Have you declared an extremely low milage on your insurance policy?

Chances are, depending on your age, whatever you insure if still going to cost you a fair bit,

You could also just stop spending unnecesary money on it too.

Trading it in for something that could well be unreliable, need taxing, MOT and servicing again sooner that the Clio would may turn out to be some false economy.

If you say on average it'll cost you £1400 to insure, which should decrease over time, £245 to tax, £150 to service and then put another £200+ away each year for consumables and unexpected bills. It works out that it's only costing you £166 per month, before fuel.

Exactly, if (touch wood) nothing goes wrong with them they are very cheap to keep going. Even consumables are cheap. Its costing me less to run this than it did my Astra.

Thanks guys :)

Going to take your advise and keep it. I need to shop around for a better insurance price though.

Could you guys please state how much you're paying, your age and the company you're with. It would be much appreciated.

Yep. They're great cars and they'll drink just like any other car if you bury your foot in the accelerator. They're so much fun this becomes tempting to do so quite often.

In the grand scheme of things they are pretty cheap to run. Even a belts change doesn't cost a massive amount.

If you manage your money properly and put aside each month for up coming servicing & consumables you won't even notice the hit you take from forking out for bills.

Edit: I was 21, Adrian Flux, £1200 for a 182 with 4 years NCB.

My friend down the road can insure his Astra VXR for £700. Makes no sense, same postcode and he has less NCB.

Not like it's exclusive to clio owners is it?

I was making the point that a number of people on here do long commutes in a Clio, not that a number of people simply have long commutes...

Gustov, I'm 25, 6 years NCB and have my Clio insured fully comp, 5000 miles, with the exhaust declared for £467 with Bell.

24, 4years NCD, £620, £0 excess, A-Plan.

I did have a quote from Bell at around £550 IIRC, but it worked out cheaper overall when paying monthly with A-Plan (plus I got a zero excess).

What is it with Clio owners and massive drives. Doesn't alexisonfire do an hour each way to work? I used to do 75 miles a day.

I used to do 70 miles a day minimum while commuting and around 2k per month in total, this has now dropped to 35 per day for commuting.

As for my insurance, i have far from a clean licence so im not the best example :p

Area is nice, but high crime rate for stolen cars because of this. 25 years old, 3 years NCB (recent non fault claim), 7 points, 15k miles per year, and every single mod declared. £1000 with £100 (i think) excess.
