Thats a load of nonsense quite frankly. Your decision that anything discovered cant impact on the gold version means its instantly a demo is stupid, i can name you more reasons why it'd NEVER be considered a demo than you can graspingly claim it should be called one.

1) Its pre-release, you dont 'demo' pre-release/unfinished games.
2) It wont be the final version which is shipped, even excluding day 1 patch.
3) It'll run for about a week, you dont time exclusive demos.
4) The purpose of an alpha or beta is for testing situations with a version that isnt finalised, before making it an official release. That applies for pre-release, and post-release patches.
5) Even if disc based copies are being printed today, Origin & other DD sites may well be pre-patched installers/downloads upon release, ie v1.01 the last chance for altering things before the game goes live will probably be a few days before its released, however long the DD sites say they must receive it for approval or w/e needs they have.

The best you, or anyone else can come up with, is that the public will treat it like a demo, and come to your own conclusion that they cant possibly use any information to influence the released product. Well that doesnt make it a demo.
THEY know their terminology just fine, and its being used correctly.
 
So far this game has cost me £137 and it's not even released yet! :o

It's all perfectly justifiable though. 40 squids for the game itself, justified by getting DS2 free, £70 for the headset and £27 for a HDMI splitter so that Mrs W can watch Sex And The City on the little TV while I'm trying to avoid having my personalised tags pinched, on the projector. :D

I just hope I don't need to add new GPUs to that list............:rolleyes:
 
Tsk tsk, all these upgrades!

I still believe my GTX460 OC will soldier through BF3 on higher settings! Even though no spec reqs have been confirmed :p
 
HDMI splitter hooked up how? Just curious on these fabulous setups people have :) Wheres Latte with some sort of spaceage cinema setup and 100db bass speakers for the jets, etc
 
Just so that the TV can be permanently connected to the SkyHD box so that I don't have to unplug from the AV amp. And yes, there will be very loud bass from my B&W sub when the Mrs is out! :D
 
I guess those people who have said that beta (48 hrs early version) may be released this thursday may well be right.

I was thinking the same thing. If closed beta is released this thursday then on saturday the open beta will be available to everyone else and more people will get the chance to play it.

Then again I could be wrong;)

On the subject of Origin accounts. How do i retain my BFBC2 username ?

I log into BFBC2 using my hotmail address but, My EA master account is through my Gmail !!

When i install Origin, Do i need to create a new BF3 username ?

I just installed Origin out of curiosity, It made me create a new username, It seems my BFBC2 username is 'Taken' ! :rolleyes:

It just showed my E-Mail address before i created a new name, Maybe i should have left it !! :confused:

I had exactly the same thing. Now I have a different Origin account name to everything else... :/ :/ :/
