Dale Farm Cleared Tomorrow?

I don't get it.

The support for them I mean with some people.

1) They're flouting the law; If I did that, I'd be banged up in a jiffy. This Law is not unfair, it just denotes that planning permissions must be obtained, otherwise there'd be a nightmare.

2) Basildon Council is not at fault. They denied permission 10 years ago. They are not under any obligation to play a convoluted game of Location Location Location with the residents of Dale Farm.

It what way is it not the right thing to do. The council has to strike a balance when making planning decisions and it's decided that 40 pitches is enough. IMO 40 is more than generous considering it's green belt land.

It seems very stingy to me due to the fact that prior to the travellers procuring the land the council themselves were using it as brown belt...

Brown belt doesn’t really mean much tbh. Just because it's being used or has been used in the past doesn’t mean it's not in the green belt and that green belt planning restrictions don't apply. You can't just say because it was used for x purpose y years ago someone has the right to develop what they please on it now.

I can't be bothered to read the whole thread, but let me guess, Permabanned is arguing any point to support the gypos because it's "fightin da power innit" ??

I can't be doing with the protestor types, like those featured on the news, for the exact reason that they would protest the building of a new road on green belt land but now they are protesting against the council actually trying to protect the green belt land! It makes my **** itch. Sorry to generalise but each one of those protestors on the news look like jobless, unkempt, stinking lay about students. I thought these youths were supposed to be clever? "Fight da power!"

Being a gypsy should be illegal, period.

Someone is making up stories. There will be no further action until a hearing on Friday.

Personally i'd like to see the council get overruled and them just be left to it.

Almost everybody the press interviewed locally today was fed up with the entire thing, saw it as a huge gigantic waste of public time and money and thought they should be left alone.

Its been like this for 10 years, and this will ultimately not do anybody any favors. It causes the council cost, aggravation and time, and it leaves women, children and the elderly homeless.

The only people who seem to be bothered about it are the council officials banging on about "the principle of it"

Oh and the war mongers on here.

Oh and the war mongers on here.

The main problem is that is:

A) The country's law should be upheld, no matter what the cost.
B) It shows other people that you can get away with not following important laws as long as you make enough noise.

I think a better response should be to go ahead and evict these people, but learn from it and streamline the whole process to ensure that if similar things happen in future, less public money is wasted and a resolution speedier.

Oh ok, I think I might just go claim myself a bit of land while we're at it then. Why don't we all do it?

Good result, do what you like as long as you can make loads of noise about it when you get caught out.

They own the land

its all over sodding planning permission.

Well planning policy wasn't developed over so many years just for a group of people to ignore those laws and do what they want. No different to rioting and taking a pair of Nike trainers from your local shop really ("because I can").

Surprising that the ****** actually own the land though.
