On Battlelog, so browser based. I imagine this is linked to Origin as well.

If it's anything like Alpha, it's via Battlelog outside of the game. You can see Origin friends in-game too.

I ordered BF3 a couple of days ago on origin and I didn't get physical warfare for some stupid reason, so I cancelled the order. I still didn't get my money back, so if I order again for beta I will be £80 down for now.

They wouldnt of taken any money when you pre ordered anyways and if they did take any money alls you have to do is contact them and ask for the refund.
