Who here owns a Renaultsport?

I think mine is about £700, 26 (renewed when 25), 3/4 years NCB (drove for 6/7 years as a named driver...idiot), 3 points, not sure of postcode rating. All mods declared, no excess (might be a compulsory £250 one in there). I'm with Sky Insurance.

I went with greenacre this time, 28 yrs old, think its a tad under 500, only 3 yrs ncd and a sucky sheffield postcode.

Gustov, why do you want to change your silver Turinis to Anthracite? This guy's looks AWESOME! Makes me want silver now!

Works much better with the standard bullets as well.

On a seperate note, I am ****ed off that my exhaust is starting to sag, and it looks slightly wonky, I'm annoyed I had to buy anew lambda sensor and will no doubt screw up fitting it tonight, I'm annoyed that my steering wheel is crap but I can't justify £140 for a retrim, I'm annoyed that my Sloda splitter is bent, scratched, and not attached properly and I cannot be bothered to get another one and fit it, and finally I'm annoyed that I could probably do with getting some spacers but I don't know the first thing about them and it's probably more hassle than it's worth.

Just meh.

When fitting the Lambda sensor you need to either grip the cat very securely or take it off to do it, otherwise you'll end up making your exhaust worse as it rotates with the force of trying to undo the Lambda sensor.

Did a bit more on the car today... the sparco circuit should be here tomorrow so as it was my day off i decided to strip the rest of the car ready for the seats to go back in.

Getting ready to cut the airbag wires on the seat, closest thing to diffusing a bomb?

Both seats out, stripping time, 12.8KG in the pile below...

Next up was to remove all the standard seatbelts and trim...put it all into a bag and it weighed 1 stone (6.4kg) which i couldn't believe.

How it stands at the moment, need to take the sound deadening out at some point and spray the inside of the shell

In total i've taken out another 49.2kg today, and only 10kg is going back in :D

Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to hold the cat as it'll be a nightmare to take off due to the fact I've had it modified, and I can't be bothered messing with the joins and stuff.

Any other tips? I assume it'll be tight to undo. Shall I spray it with some WD40 first?

It'll likely be tight, but that depends how long ago it was out and how it was refitted.

I could not undo mine while it was on the car, neither the first time removing it from the CAT, not the second time just a couple of months later from the decat.

If it was anything like mine, I wouldn't even bother without removing the cat first.

How has it been modified?

Alexisonfire - your nuts sir! I bet that goes like a bat out of hell now.

Much do you reckon your weighing in now 950?

Removed 130kg which brings kerb down to 960kg, this is not taking into considering the new exhaust was half the weight of the original also.

The buckets and harnesses have to go back in which is around 22kg meaning 982kg kerb weight

Also bare in mind, average 6 point cage weighs 30-40kg, would be nice to get the car under 1 tonne with a roll cage.

Edit: oh and to say the car is loud inside is an understatement :D This is with everything closed and the windows up

My exhaust was constantly blowing so I had the centre silencer removed and the cat opened up to a larger exit, never blows now and it sounds awesome :D

So yeah, I just can't be arsed, and don't have the time to take the cat off tonight. Will give the sensor a go and if I can't do it then I'll have to take it to a local garage.

Can't view the video, but shall do when home. So its what 80kg below standard? Bet its awesome on a track :D

Also I need to get my cat modified, sounds much better.

The saga of what should have been an hour job ended this evening.

Late last night I decided to crack on and get my aux belt tensioner swapped over - Renault had given me another in advance of returning the damaged one, and I don't expect they'll be too happy having it all in limbo for too long.

Everything was going swimmingly until it came to taking the tension off the new tensioner (something I've done successfully twice before on this car!) to get the last bit of the belt on when the keyway hole snapped. I knew Renault were not going to entertain another swap so I had to persevere to find another solution.

That solution was a jubilee clip around the tensioner spring to compress it - except the jubilee clips I had were not strong enough - I faffed around for hours not willing to admit defeat.

Annoyingly, after sourcing a beefy jubilee clip from Halfrauds today (£3.79 on a trade card!) the tensioner was fitted in about 10 minutes and the car reassembled in a further 20.

After tonight I've decided I HATE working on cars.

Quote from ClioSport on changing the lambda - "It's a 5 minute job. A blind monkey could do it".

Awesome I thought. WRONG!

10 mins jacking the car and getting my tools out
10 mins spraying WD40 and leaving to soak
30 mins trying with a spanner to undo the lambda
5 mins of it moving slightly and me wondering why it won't turn any more
5 seconds realising I'd beee turning it the wrong way
30 mins turning it the right way and EVENTUALLY getting it undone
1 min to unplug the old lambda
5 mins trying to screw in the new lambda the wrong way
1 mins to screw in lambda the right way
30 mins trying to plug the new lambda connector in

DONE - Seriously, over 2 hours to do!!!

I cannot describe the amount of anger flowing through my body whilst trying to plug the new ****ing lambda connector in. Unless you have baby hands it's near ****ing impossible to get your hands into the right place (this is pre-cat lambda by the way), let alone have enough precision and force to plug the bloody thing in. Eventually I managed to yank the cable attached to the car out enough that I could plug it in. So bloody relieved when I did it!

So anyway, emissions light is still on, I assume I'll have to clear that. Car drove fine as expected as it was warm from the drive to my Mum's where I was doing it. Real test is tomorrow morning, if it's lumpy and misfiring still I'm going to be very very angry.
