What film did you watch last night?

Carriers - 5/10

This film was held back by Paramount Vantage for 2 years, after one of the leads (Chris Pine) was signed up to play James T. Kirk in the Star Trek reboot.

Presumably they intended to cash-in on his fame, but it's still a sub-par viral apocalypse thriller without many thrills or scares. A bland tale, blandly told with a bland cast.

x-men first class.

My friends said it was pretty poo so I watched it with low expectations. I was however quite impressed and really did enjoy it!

7.5/10

Blitz (Jason Statham) - 7/10
Didn't know what the film was about, just knew Statham was in it. Nice to see him playing a London copper!
Far from accurate regarding actual policing but I suppose it has to be glammed up for the film industry!

The Royal Tenenbaums - Turning into a fan of Wes Anderson although I preferred Rushmore and Life Aquatic this film was still enjoyable and weird. Basically it follows a disfunctional family whose Dad is trying to get back in twenty years after walking out. Fine cast and good moments. 4/5

Just saw 30 minutes or less at the cinema - Found it quite entertaining, acting isn't amazing but the script is decent, few laugh out moments...and boobs lol 7/10

So 'The Tree of Life', I was thinking of seeing this the other night? But couldn't quite grasp what it's actually about? and whether its worth my time?

it's worth watching, gets very trippy at times, there's dinosaurs in it (yes, dinosaurs) and i'm still trying to work out what the point was and whether it was trying to be pretentious and arty as opposed to concentrating on the story

We watched Charlie Wilson's War. I wasn't at all surprised to see that it was written by Aaron Sorkin, because the dialogue has that crisp, pithy wit about it. Pretty interesting to see that sort of story, albeit doubtless somewhat fictionalised.

Also, Amy Adams is hawt, yo.

That said, I wasn't such a fan of the pace — 139 minutes is a long time for any film, let alone one with no storyline.

SPOILER

did you clock on that sean penn was infact the eldest child from the off? i only realised once i read up on it on imdb and it just didn't make sense, like when he met hmself in the rocky desert and then on the beach, was he dead? i didn't think the film was about his death, more his realisation of his life. when brad pitt was saying that he felt guilty that the last thing he had done was shouted about his piano playing, i thought he had died as a child and the story was going to lead up to how it happened, but it didn't .... or did it? went straight over my head in parts if i'm honest.
