BF3 min/rec specs show as follows.......

how about 6870 Crossfire? looking at my GTX460 as minimum.

i want to play almost max, but cant justify paying £600 for 2 GTX580

The fact that I'm still on a C2D and a GTX 460 makes me almost want to buy it on PS3 until I go Ivy Bridge in march.

Don't want to play on low-medium at something like 40fps :(

i only brought my gpu a year ago and it's outdated !!

damn frustrating my board doesn't support SLI otherwise i would SLI the GTX460 and get the same performance as a gtx570:mad:

I'm going to see how the beta works out as a rough indicator of performance. If everyone is reporting decent-good fps and I'm struggling I'll probably bite the bullet and go PS3. Shame, I just bought a 120Hz monitor and won't be able to make use of all those Hz on the PS3 :(

We'll just have to see!

Better than at 720p at 30fps.

I know but it'll be locked. Ugh, PS3 for BF3? Must be going mad! :D

I reckon anything with 1Gb of VRAM in the 460/6850+ range will perform well at decent settings. Obviously not maxed out, but it will still look great.

Dice/EA will not make a game only a handful can play, it is not good for. It will run perfect on a quad with a 6850+. Now this may well be medium/high and not ultra. But it will still look a lot better then any console version.

Could we not all wait until the game actually comes out? Half of these bf3 threads turns into an e-penis contest.

I have no doubt that my 5850 will still kick this game in the balls and give me 1 notch off "ultra" settings at a decent FPS @ 1080p

edit - Most new games now have "ultra" settings that look maybe 1% better than "maximum" settings but totally cripple even the best systems (main example Witcher 2), to me that is just entering into a ****ing competition, I will take maximum settings @ high FPS any day over "ultra".

Hmmm....looks like i'll be fine with the rig in my sig, although if it struggles i'll look to upgrade.
I wonder how my sons i5, 8gb ram and 5770 will cope at 1920x1080 though.
If i upgrade my 5850, he can have that.

Buy a PS3 so you can play at 720p at 30fps with god awful detail level? Don't do it dude.

So where did you bring it?

I'm a pc gamer at heart, always have been, never got on with consoles. I game at 1920x1080 with all settings on high in just about every game i have.
BFBC2 is my game. However.....when i watch my lad play COD on his 360 on a 720p tv, it looks really nice. I sometimes think it looks better and smoother than on a pc. Is it just me then?

What resolution is recommended?

Does anyone know if the developer tweet stating 580 Sli would be needed for Ultra settings was all guff?

I would imagine so, because I dont think many people can afford that sort of setup.

Im thinking with my GTX570, im gonna have to settle for just less than maxed if I want to play at 1080p

Well I sure hope the 6870 I ordered yesterday (3 mins before it went off this week only :D) will do me at least a mix of medium/high at 1920x1200...

Was gonna wait and see some benchmarks, but alas my old card spontaneously died after many 4 of loyal service without so much as a flicker :(

it wasnt a developer i dont think, i read its was a guy from nvidia that said 2 x 580s in sli shoud cope, this is just so people go and buy more 580s, i think they will more than cope. i belive my xfire 6950s will manage ultra np

I think BF3 will be the nail in the coffin for my 285. It's handled all new stuff admirably at 1920x1200.

I should be away for 3-4 months from November so will be able to wait it out until I get back next year - better be some tasty deals/awesome new tech about then :D

Lol. Exactly my thoughts too! Theres no way EA would release it if you needed a 6950/560ti as a minimum spec.

My 9800gtx+ will work, don't care what you say I haven't' found a game today it can't run adequately. If those old out of date consoles can run battlefield 3 then my PC can.
