QuadCores are really beneficial these days.

Min specs say a dual core will do so yeah it will certainly play on your rig with the 5870 which still is a top card.

I don't think it's physically possible for them to run Caspian Border.

The vehicles on that map will add significantly to the CPU load, not to mention plotting the location of 64 players, and the added destruction. For an open demo they would have to enlist way more servers.

I have strong reservations that it'll even run smoothly at release on private servers.

I have only been there once. It was unbelievable. Everyone has the right to their opinion, but they keep going on and on to the point of insanity.
