Bumped it up and it's not made that much difference! Got 1 shot earlier from a Gnasher from miles away after the guy taking a longshot to the neck. Sigh.. Will just have to keep at it.

When you start a game of horde or campaign arcade it has the options to turn on mutations which is more or less the same as Skulls in Halo.

Some make it hard, some easier. This affects your bonus multiplier.

I have a couple unlocked just not sure on the rest yet :)
 
Ah yes, I did see the mutations option. But as I always play from the beginning on Standard mode, I can't configure them so haven't a clue what I've got. Better go check.

EDIT: Seems I've got two - headless chicken and no ammo pickups. It's a bit crap that it only modifies the experience points for levelling up, I'd rather have 10% extra cash.

Just tried Horde on Casual on my own playing with the mutators. Got to wave 10 and three Gurker things came after me. I tried the wave a few times but they are horribly tough buggers. It was a map I've never seen before - Drydock. Never seems to come up as a choice when using matchmaking.

I'm only at the start of Act 2 but personally I'm finding the SP the best of the series so far (well on a par with Gears 1 at least). I really dont see the fuss about Gears 2 tbh

Is a prequel next for the series then? I wasn't sure if there was going to even be any more Gears games after this one :/
 
Bah got manned turrets to level 4 and still have no auto sentries. Maybe I have to start levelling up the decoys?

Right unlocking the silverback is spend $170k on barriers.
 
Right infinite ammo mutation which will come in handy for insane, you have to earn the combat engineer medal.

Which is 500 horde fortification upgrades/repairs. 304 down, 196 to go.
 
Where do you find the mutation unlock details?

And more importantly - how the heck do you get the Hammer of Dawn in Horde? There is a stat page for it!
 
Er off the top of my head it's with all the other unlocks for characters etc.

It gives you a list of requirements for each mutation :)

I saw that Hammer stat and thought the same as you. :D

Well I'm doing brilliantly on those - best is 11/100 for combat engineer (infinite ammo) so far.

EDIT: This gets more and more confusing. Do you have to then wear the medal and choose "combat engineer" title and then play 100 games to unlock it? The medal itself, which says "Field Engineer", I'm at 966/1000 on.

Yeah I'm miles off on most of them, tbh list is poorly laid out because you then have to go and look at your medals as well to tie it all up.

Infinite ammo is my next target then.

Isn't that the whole point of the game - to stay in your base, build the fortifications and twonk them as they come to you? I get fed up with folks that lay down spikes, run off to the other side of the map to attack and then end up getting killed. I build my turret and use it so that when you repair it, the level goes up. I'll soon be able to get a troika.

I played a game - just three of us - last night with my tactic and we got to 32 or so before I had to quit and go to bed.

The enemies were the opther side of the map, me including the other 2 people down, this numpty, other side of map sitting in his turret doing nowt lmao.

Been workign on teh silverback atm, shame to say I only just realised I can stockpile cash xD

I thought it was a shared pool of money lol

EDIT: Does playing on insane with the Infintie ammo thing give more XP?
Might try and bash thru a few tonight lol.

Anyone up for a 5man attempt for th 50 late tonight? start at say 10-11ish?

All this Horde chat is confusing, guess i need to try playing it

I still dont get the medals, I have some and no achievement for getting one? Or does that only work for the 4 star medals?
 
The "Combat Engineer" required for the Infinite Ammo mutator is the name of a ribbon. You have to work on 5 fortifications in one deployment (meaning repair five things in one go at the start of a new wave).
