****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Just got it, upgraded from a desire.

Love the speed etc and the build, shape.

However:

1) Clock widget - clicking it doesn't take you to the clock/alarm app. Infuriating.
2) Browser - no text reflow. I've installed opera but I prefer the normal browser, it's just annoyingly unusable without proper reflow on pinch-to-zoom.
3) Keyboard - no punctuation behind all keys, they're all behind the full stop which makes it really slow, particularly to type with commas.
4) Keyboard - the prediction bar appears and disappears as you type causing you the screen above to jump around which is distracting.
5) having to type out times for alarms or click +/- buttons is properly slow compared to spinning the wheel with sense.

Anyone got any solutions? I've installed opera browser and touchpal keyboard which fix it a bit but they aren't perfect imo.

I'm most interested in:
A fix to the browser text reflow, or a better browser than opera.
A htc sense-like keyboard.
A decent clock widget that links to the clock app.

Cheers.

1. Install Beautiful Widgets.
2. Enable fit to screen in browser settings. (Consider opera mobile or Dolphin HD also.)
3. Use Swype or Swiftkey from market. In the case of Swype watch some of the Youtube videos as its fast once you learn the shortcuts.
4. See above
5. Its not that much of a problem is it?

Thanks everyone, I'll check them out.

2) this only works for one zoom level (double tap from 100%), but not on pinch to zoom like every other browser. I'll try out dolphin as whilst opera is better, I'm still not a massive fan.

5) it's just little things that I noticed and missed which make the user experience a bit more pleasant.

Cheers

Yeah, I never use pinch to zoom to be fair. Dolphin does all that though I think.

The only one I have come across that has text reflow is Opera mobile, does it no matter pinch in and out it always does it, none of the others do it properly.

Beautiful widget if you go in the advanced options you can click time application and set it to use the clock for example, when you press on the time on screen.

Guys grab 'paper camera' from the market. £1.20. Amazing results with the Sammy camera. Check it out

Cool, just ot it free on getjar.com (hadn't heard of the site till loltim mentioned in the apps thread that beautiful widgets was free there) :).

I'd put a healthly bet on you being in the minority who hide the default clock....

Yeah, I don't bother hiding the default clock, I still have a clock widget though as it's easier to see a big clock than the little one in the corner when looking quickly. It also helps since I have Korean/East Coast US time displayed as well so having a big clock for gmt/bst then a smaller one for those makes it easier to notice the time when looking quickly.

I hide the default clock, and use it to display the date and time in large font on my homescreen. Tapping it takes me quickly to my alarms.

A bit of thought would have helped you realise those uses.

I'm talking about people that have both clocks on display, like the person who I was replying to does. It's daft. I wouldn't use it so I could access my Alarms with 1 less screen tap either.

Excellent point, I've also wondered that on several occasions. I find it's better to have the day etc instead of a clock.

just makes sense :dunno:

Does anyone know if I can go to the PO (delivery office) on a Saturday morning to collect an item? They have my S2!! They attempted to deliver it today in the afternoon.

I would have thought so as that is probably the only time a lot of folks can get there.

Didn't they leave a card though, with the opening times etc?

You might have to go to the sorting office though... or is that what you meant?

Well yeah the card says please leave 24 hours before collecting, but it is open Saturday from 7-12, so it won't quite be the full 24 hours because they attempted to deliver at half 12 today. Oh well I'll go down around 10am and hope for the best. I wanted to mess around on it this weekend...!
