Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [23rd - 28th September 2011]

Great goal from Ross McCormack! 0-2

Thought Brighton would do a lot better than this... Carling Cup hangover as they say. :D

Only one team in this so far. Pleasantly surprised at leeds' response to the last outing.

That stadium looks... not awful, but not nice. Why the massive grey bits?

Thrown this away. I was about to say Brighton have been very poor. Their tempo has been up, without mackail-smith's running they wouldn't be anywhere near.

Dubious pen mind.

Bit disappointed. Losing in injury time you take a draw, but I thought Leeds outplayed and outbattled Brighton, who looked a one-man team and if you get at them look clueless.

Aye. McCormack though. What a season so far. Decent spirit to equalise. Our defence is terrible. White isn't a left back, Lees isn't a right back, Kisnorbo is finished and Bromby has been poor. Not good

Bitter sweet feeling.

I left for work at half time and i honestly expected to check at fulltime and find 5 or 6 nil. The only thing that you can count on is that CMS would not give the Leeds defense a second on the ball!

I am delighted with the draw after watching the first half, it was similar to the Liverpool game in the way that Brighton seemed to take it way too lightly in the first half hour, looked lazy again, and then turned it right around in the second half.
Leeds started very well though, they probably realised that they could get to Brighton early.
It is no secret that in recent seasons, probably 10 years, if you put early pressure on Brighton, they crumble. The new stadium and atmosphere seems to have remedied that slightly(if you scored first against Brighton in previous seasons, the fans turned on them very easily, they have had terrible support mainly from fans disillusioned after the Goldstone fiasco, coupled with playing in the worst stadium in league football.)

I don't know whether Brighton have been a bit intimidated maybe? They might have showed too much respect to Leeds and Liverpool, letting them play too much before realising that they could actually get something if they played their own game.

btw, Craig Mackail-Smith hasn't actually played very well so far this season. no one, Buckley, Calderon and Barnes have been better than him so far. Though he is a great player i think, and a sure bet to do well in the Championship.

We have got to get out of this mentality of not starting to play until the second half. Also throwing the game away with seconds to go (Ankergren guilty with that hoof) cost us against Blackpool and now tonight. Shame no one was knackered from the Liverpool match as we lost width when he came off. Still 3rd is not shabby and better than most of us expected at this stage of the season. Top 10 shouldn't be out of the question at the end of the season.

Someone mentioned the 'grey bits'. Capacity was limited to 22,500 by planning permission so the corners were left unfilled. The Amex has been designed to be expanded to 35,000. The corners will add another 8,000 and planning permission (for the corners) will be applied for at Xmas with a view to installing the seats for next season to satisfy the nearly 2,000 on the season ticket waiting list.

Seems like Brighton surprised another team, Still i was very disappointed when we played them even though we won it was a cack performance.

Regarding Wolves i expect a much better performance from all our players even Suarez looked off midweek, Bellamy to get some more game time was he did okay mid week also hopefully Gerrard will get abit more game time.

And start Carroll if its not working KD just needs to sub him earlier instead of waiting so dam long like he does which i find VERY frustrating to watch when the obvs solutions get ignored.

Long as we can get 3 pts in league and bounce back ill be happy but a much improved performance is needed.

Have you been to the Amex yet Seaview?

I went for my first game on Wednesday. Atmosphere was amazing, i was very impressed. And i have never seen the Brighton fans so cheerful either! (used to sitting at Withdean in the rain and wind, freezing cold watching us hoof the ball all game:p)

Just saw the Breakfast news and they were reporting that Wilshere is out until Xmas. The clip they used was him shooting, hitting the crossbar and that was it. :o

Working at the Premier League channel this weekend so will see I think 6 games live. Should be a fun day today.

Would love to see Everton, Bolton, Swansea and Wolves get a point each but I cant see that being the case for all of them. Bolton could do well though.

Liverpool ITK predicting the team to play Wolves will be:

Reina
Kelly
Carragher
Skrtel
Enrique
Henderson
Lucas
Adams
Kuyt
Suarez
Downing

Will be nice to see Kuyt back after his performance midweek although he should've started ahead of Skrtel last weekend. His workrate and never say die attittude might not have prevented a Spurs win but I'm sure it would've prevented Skrtel getting ruined and picking up two yellows.

Pretty gutted Maxi and Bellamy aren't expected to play though. Brighton might not be at the level of Premiership clubs but the speed, movement and experience both showed midweek was leagues ahead of anything Henderson and Adams have showed all season. I really don't know how much less either can do before facing a spell on the bench.

Carroll expected to be on the bench :o

If the Carroll thing is true im sure he is getting fed up with it now, Whilst we know Kuyt and Suarez works better he NEED`s to start Carroll for a string of games doesnt work take him off least Carroll and Suarez would get some time to gel as it is now they get about 15mins tops.

Glad to see Kelly back but as you said PK bit gutting for Bellamy who did quite well mid week considering we weren't that great then anyway

I hate Newcastle being favourites :(

Thats when we tend to **** up :(

We really should win today but taking nothing for granted!
