Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [23rd - 28th September 2011]

This is a joke right?

Actually didn't mean to say that, sorry!

By forwards I mean strikers, basically people that play in the same or very similar position to Hernandez. So no players like VDV, Sneijder, Gerrard etc.

In my opinion, the current crop of world class strikers includes the following; Rooney, Villa, Eto'o, Drogba, Tevez, Aguero, Pato, Ibrahimovic, Benzema, Falcao, Forlan, Torres (when he's in form).

Out of that, who can constantly put balls across the whole pitch onto a 50p coin?

That's why i'm saying you can't discredit Hernandez because he can't do what Rooney does, he is unique.

If you're comparing strikers on their main attributes; accuracy, footballing brain, ability to make space, strength, pace etc, then with a little more strength and experience, Hernandez will definitely be up there.

Or he could fail, like Owen.

I think you've got a fair point there, Rooney has well above average passing ability for a striker. So much so that certain people have suggested he plays central midfield instead...

In 2010 his international record for Mexico was 19 apps and 11 goals. For someone who didn't have the chance to gain experience by playing against top teams domestically / internationally for his club, that is pretty damn good.

Robi for that least did you just search on strikers for anyone 85+ on Fifa?

Who was it that put Cavani in the 'top' bracket a week or so ago?

edit: I like goal music :( Fratellis Chelsea Dagger

No reference to FIFA sorry! The only players you could possibly question are Ibrahimovic, Pato, Benzema and Falcao, all the rest are proven.

I forgot to mention Suarez though, my mistake.

Who else would you put in the top tier of strikers?

Cavani, Lavezzi, Milito, Higuain, Adebayor, Van Persie...
