Failed my driving test this week... How many attempts did it take you?

I can't help but laugh when I hear people brag about passing first time with only a few minors. You drove for ~40 minutes and made only two minor faults? No you didn't.

I can't help but laugh when I hear people scoffing at others because they're judging them by their own low standards.

I passed on my second test, as a Taxi kindly rear ended my instructor's two week old car during my test.
I have never failed a test though :p.

A lived with a lad a few years ago in halls who passed on his tenth attempt. He was a **** driver and even going to Tesco with himk (circa 2 miles away) he had 3 near misses and I had to prompt him to move forward as he was leaning into the back chatting when the traffic in front had moved.

Took a mock test recently. Got 8 minors, which were just observations. I was just glancing at the mirrors instead of turning my head and making it obvious, and 2 serious which were driving at 33mph for a split second and briefly entering a cycle lane.

Got my first test booked up for 23rd November.

Passed first time, on my 18th birthday. Happy day! :)

edit: have to add; the car was written off 5days later as two of my chums were mooning some pedestrians, and we were subsequently rear-ended. No pun intended. :D

Passed on my second try. But the first time my instructors car broke down so I had to use a different car. The main problem was that I was not used to the indicators in an Astra and kept signalling the opposite way when trying to cancel them.

I think the examiner can make a massive difference. My second examiner was a really nice guy and had a laugh with me, which put me at ease. Whereas the first examiner I had was pure evil. She was the spitting image of that Debra Meaden from Dragons Den..but meaner :(.

First time with two minors

1 for not slamming the emergency break on hard enough as I thought it might kill the poor old chap testing me
2 for only doing a quick check of mirrors after the proper emergency break as I was busy asking him if he was ok as he was rubbing his neck!

First time, two minors. First was a missed rear mirror check when going from 50->70 then it was one for going a little slow on a lane marked 60. Never drove there before and there were no signs so stayed at 30 just incase :p he later asked why I was driving at 30 and I said because of the bad weather I thought any faster would be unsafe, he then grinned and nodded. Win!

It shouldn't take that long to iron out those faults, should it? Why are you leaving it another two months?

I passed first time with a couple of minors.

I have a friend who crashed head on into another person doing their test in the test centre car park. Remarkably he passed as the test was already over. The poor lady in the other car was not so fortunate. Her test had only just started and the accident was her fault.

I nearly spat my cheese and biscuits over the keyboard. :D:D:D:D

Wonder how many could say with absolute certainty that they would pass tomorrow if they had to take their test again. And, if that was the case, how many would have to adjust the way they drive in order to do so.

First time, 4 minors, nearly 11 years driving, zero crashes, once bumped my wind mirror on a wall, was gutted.

I think I would pass it but my knowledge of road signs has diminished which could be a problem, I dont drive fast, indicate, use my mirrors all the time, maneuvers top notch still. Considering I was 17 and nervous as hell and had only 35 hour of driving under me, I should be able to pass with nearly 11 years driving.
