Oh, and last time I checked, COD doesn't have jets/tanks/bullet drop/destruction/recoil worth talking about. Hardly emulating it.

Oh really. That's why we have things like auto-heal, kill-cams, 100pts point kill (obviously 10 wasn't sufficient), smaller maps, ridiculous number of unlocks, customised dog-tags, etc

All reminiscent of COD.

Erm, it still provides essentially the same gameplay element to the player.

"yay, i get to sit and drive my remote controlled toy"

EA want little gimics like this to make the game more appealing to players crossing over from the COD series.

Nothing like it at all, one is a dumb RC toy that you ram in to the enemy, the other is a tactical device that can be used to support your team, you know the thing that BF is all about....teamplay.

It's 2011 not 2005 when BF2 hit, unlocks and cuntimisation is a big deal in todays games, Dice are just keeping up with the times. The maps are not smaller, Dice have stated that BF3 will have some of the biggest maps ever in a battlefield game.

Neil79 just crash landed his helicopter after being hit!!:eek::p

Yeah that's BC2.

So what was wrong with, you know, supporting your team on the ground as an infantry player? Or using any number of other vehicles.

No, it's absolutely essential to introduce a remote controlled vehicle to play that role wasn't it.

Health regen, unlocks etc have been in pc games for years, bf2 had unlocks long before call of duty ever had them, bf2 also had the option of smaller maps for infantry only. Killcam in bf games works totally differently to how it does in cod games, 1 shows you location if killer, the other shows how you got killed. And apparently cod is the only
Game out there to allow 100'points for a kill?

That's Battlefield for you, you get to choose how you want to play it, below image sums up the two games, they are not really comparable.
