Gears of War 3 Dated (Official blah blah)

It's not that bad I've just done it in about 7 tries. All I did was move to the right behind cover, toss 4 frags at it then I nailed it with 2 full clips of lancer one of which was a full active reload.

I can see what he's getting at because it's completely cheap and a pain in the arse, but it's not as hard as he makes out, co-op could be a different matter alltogether though.

I have tried 30 times and I can't even get to drive into cover yet. I normally get killed mid roll no matter which way I go. You are right though it's utterly cheap. There isn't a way in hell you could do that section 4 player co-op on insane. If one dies it's game over. The instant splash damage would finish the game :(

I've left that bit to come back to. Nothing in Act 2 so far has given me much trouble. Gunker damage in act 1 on insane was crazy in places. I ended up rolling around for half hour until they blew up.

Slowly getting used to the retro lancer, although I still think it's too heavy on the recoil. It feels slightly different in the campaign, or am I imagining things?

I love the retro charge thing. Often gets me killed, mind. I think the retro lancer would be best with infinite ammo. It runs out too quickly.

Act 2 chap 5 on insane is so cheap as well. It's like they tried to make WAW veteran :D

The final sequence takes 5 or 6 minutes. After multiple deaths I found a strategy that works but you have zero room for error. You have 20 or 30 seconds to kill 2 therons every 30 seconds.

I finally get the job done, the airship lands a theron pings cole and the ****ing great big retard runs toward me blows the both of us sky high. I was safe behind a rock and the great big **** runs at me.

This is a bit of a snorefest. Currently playing as Cole and not finding this anything exciting or different. The enemies take 1000 bullets each and don't seem to have much effect/change when you are shooting them. The AI team mates are completely useless as well, they just get in the way and don't shoot anything! I accidently changed my gun to a Hammerburst and have been stuck with it for ages, its litter! Hopefully I can find a Lancer soon.

Anyone else underwhelmed by this? Feel its a bit predictable?

A tip if you don't already do it, when you see stuff like boomshots, torque bow etc laying around, give them to the AI team mates (the torque bow is best because it's accurate and they get 12 shots every check point). At one point I think I had 5 AI team mates all with torque bows nail a boomer and it just got annihilated :D

Also give them a lancer because it means they have a decent fallback weapon that's also good in close quarters.

the single player i thought was terrible, all you seem to do was come to a bit in the map where there is loads of ammo, collect it because you know your going to be in a fire fight then hide behind some sandbags or sometimes a burnt out car, kill 20 bad guys, shoot scrotum's off a beanstalk. Then move abit, come to some glowing ammo and some sandbags collect it,hide shoot some more bad guys then sometimes they would make it that you have to pull a leaver once in a while

the multiplayer has its fun parts but the rolling and shot gunning is twisting my nipples

I didn't think about that. I will give that a try. I normally use them myself but not on insane, far too risky taking sticking out in the open that long with a Torque bow or longshot.

I broke tonight and bought the season pass. I looked at the DLC for gears 2 and it ended up with 29 maps and an extra chapter on SP.

Compared to most other games that's pretty good. As I got 2100 for £11, I get 4 DLC for £13ish pound.

Still wish they would put escalation, mansion and rooftops in the game again.

Exactly my thoughts. I remember the first one having a lot more to it than this, maybe I'm just bored of the concept? Either way, I'll finish the Single player and have a bash at the Multi Player. If not I'll be selling / trading it in.... I'd hoped for a lot more from this game, still plenty of time for it to get a bit better :)

i always hated multi player although i always thought horde was awesome.I have had a few hours on multi player the past couple nights and even tho i slated gears 1-2 multi player it was more due to the fact that all people seem to do is roll in and roll out with a shotgun,or they seem to run to the high ground where there is always a sniper rifle and once they are up there you cannot do a thing about it.I was playing the map when your on a beach and the other team just ran to the high ground and we couldn't touch them, one guy sniping the other people drawing your fire while he picks you off with sniper rifle.

Then i played a match before,my team was doing awesome then host left, and 4 people on my team left,i had 9 kills to 1 death and we had won 1 game to 0,when it sorted it self out we got 4 bots on our team, and we ended up getting beat 2-1,from doing class i ended up with about 13 kills to 15 deaths.

That's pretty much all that happens on that map and Overpass as well.
Yet again 2 good examples of how crap epic are at designing maps.

I think on the whole they have done a good job with the maps, especially as they have to work with horde and beast as well.

Everyone makes map packs on release with two or three bad maps I think.

I've an urge to play the original gears now, trying to source a decent classic copy new, going to try to find a copy of the goty gears 2 as well. Loads of maps I never even looked at.

Canals was great as well but you can easily see it wouldn't work with horde 2.0.

Yeah they need a sniper rifle at the beach, that way you have half a chance

It does? I've seen a longshot and a one shot down there. They should reverse it completely though. Only have the longshot down on the beach. They used that method on escalation in gears 1 and it worked well. 2 longshots down low and the other players have the high ground.

The centre part of the beach only spawns a Hammer of Dawn and a Oneshot. And frankly when it comes to that map, the Longshot > Oneshot in all scenerios!
