BF3 Beta FPS thread

Well I have been playing the Beta for the past 2 days and what a game indeed :D

I have HD4870's in xfire with a i7 920 o/c'd to 4ghz with 6gb ddr 3 ram and I have set everything to Ultra and restarted the game to ensure setting are applied and I was getting around 14fps which is not really ideal :( Obviously my textures was on low but that may be down to my cards being dx10 and not 11??

I have also installed the latest optimsed driver from ATI for BF3.

So I agree I think the graphic settings are there to be done but think they must be capped because to be fair I was not expecting my setup to run the game never lone play it lol?

Not enough Vram ;)

My 1GB 5850 can handle ultra settings but runs out of 1GB vram.

I would say 2GB vram is needed to play this game smoothly.

I just bought a 6950 2gb for eyfinity .... Wasnt expecting 60 fps... But was hoping for somewhere around 30 :(

Guess I was being way to optimistic .... But even if I crossfired (which I cnt until I update mobo aswell) I wouldn't say it was that much better... Feel like my gpu is rele dated already .... Upgrade to the 7xxx series soon by the looks of it .. Mre money :(

Way, way optimistic.

You should take a look at the play through videos for the PC and compare it to the 360 version and see how dated it looks!;)

well I get close to 40FPS average with everything maxed out and 8xAA 16x AF on an overclocked 5850. A 6950 should get at least similar or better

anyone got any results on a 5770 or equivilent and/or at 1600x900?

I play at a similar resolution as you mate 1600x900 with my 5850 gonna overclock it to 825/1100. Still running my trusty 10.3 drivers though :) wonder how they will cope trying to run BF3 the run BF2 flawless on high settings

What have you overclocked your 5850 to mate? I must admit when i play through the campaign i want the highest settings i can have at my resolution but for mulitplayer why would people want the highest settings? i understand we all want it to look nice but as long as the gameplay is good on multiplayer i dont mind the odd drop in graphical detail

cool, give us a shout if you get any results, i dont get home till december so ill have to envy all of you lot whilst my copy is sitting on my desk at home :(

iirc my 5770 could hit 925/1250 without issue but i dont think it made a huge difference to anything it struggled with :/

Perhaps if amd do manage to get there 7xxx out before i come home ill try and pick up something as its generally cheaper in the US...

Hmm, some interesting results thus far, am I right in my thinking that with a GTX480 (sig not updated yet) and a relatively low rez monitor (1680x1050) I should be able to run very high settings?

Time will tell...... :)

It runs fine on consoles because they only run DX9 equivalent.

They have in them a GFX card roughly around the power of a X1900 ATi or a Geforce 7800.

Rumour has it that Caspian Border (which is included on the Beta but not 'activate' straight away) will be playable in the near future. Would be interesting to know performance on this level as it's a bit more expansive. Maybe more of a strain on the CPU side of things but it would be an interesting comparison.

This thing is ....everyone want to run it flat out...but if you are competitive gamer and getting the best results and performnace from the game...most people will drop all the effects and use minimum settings to get the best framerates posssible. Too much effects means more smoke and other crap that reduce visibility which is not a good thing. Most clan matches are played with most having the settings all tweaked and set at minimum.

This should be banned tbh, at least on pubs. The visual effects are part of the game, and certain elements are supposed to be obstacles that you need to deal with, not switch off so you can avoid them completely.

When playing BC2 I wondered why smoke grenades sometimes weren't effective, turns out that it's was much easier to spot players in the smoke running the game at minimum settings.

If anything, lower settings should make it more difficult to see other players.

found somthing nice today

i was getting 40-60fps on BF3 on my 570GTX noticed my temp were at 83c so turned on MSI FAN profile. dropped down to 70c and was getting 80-100fps :D

why should it be banned. You may not have a good enough PC to play at higher than low settings. I was just stating a fact really...the more serious gamers here will lower settings for definite. although...higher FPS makes for beter reactions and accuracy usually in most FPS games.

Can't wait to try it out tonight on my i7 920 + GTX 480 although.... I'm kinda scared my Hazro HZ27WC @ 2560x1440 is gonna be a real problem for the graphics card :( Don't really feel like turning it down to 1920x1080 but we'll see I guess...
