BF3 Beta FPS thread

My 6950 and 2500k doesn't get near 40fps average on Ultra, never mind with 8xAA. I get around 30-35fps with the Ultra preset.

I find this odd really, the guy above with a 580 and 2500k says he gets just over 40fps and sometimes 80fps (i guess in the underground section). I mean, the 580 destroys the 5850, so I dunno how people are getting ~40fps average on mid-range cards when people on high end cards are just scraping past that.

Well that's what fraps says. After 1 game I got 20 min 72 max 38.5 average
My 5850 is clocked to 1GHz which helps.

Also the 5850 is not a mid-range card...it's the same range as yours...just a little older.

GPU: 5850 @ 850/1200

Average FPS: METRO outside 35-45 fps inside 45-60
Driver version: 11.10 Preview
Settings: High, Motion Blur off

I was matching some of the really high frame rates other people have posted with the same spec as the pc I'm using at work after setting it to ultra. Once I restarted the game the framerate dropped to far below what I had previously, I think people just arent restarting their game to see the proper frame rates.

Outside my FPS pretty much crashed.
It is quite VRAM limited.
Solution I suppose is turning down AA.

So it seems. Outside I am lucky to get over 35fps with everything on high (plus 4xAA). If I nudge everything down to medium I still don't get framerates which I consider playable. I can only achieve decent performance by turning off AA entirely it seems. This is on a Radeon 5850 at 1920 x 1080 - no CPU limitations here either (i5 2500k @ 4.5Ghz).

5850 certainly isn't highend, neither is the 6950, I didn't say it was highend, but its certainly faster than the 5850, and since its unlocked and clocked faster than a 6970, it should be faster still.

Oh yeah, the 6950's a mid range card.. Not..

The 6950's a high end card?

Ok its highish end, not the fastest AMD card out. Its hard to classify AMD cards because the 6 series are very similar to the 5.

In addition to my post before, look at Frenzy:

GPU: GTX580 stock
CPU: i5 @4ghz
Resolution: 1920x1080
Average FPS: METRO outside 35-40 fps inside 40-50
Driver version:280.26
Settings: Ultra, Antialiasing Post - Medium, MSAA - x4

He is getting the same FPS as someone with a 5850? Come on.

He's not using the beta drivers for bf3. (285.38)
