ive been playing for another hour or so, this is the final result from the GFX card reported by gpuz

MAXIMUMS OVER TWO HOURS

5850 1GB @ stock

1080p, all ultra, NO AA

GPU TEMP - 69 degrees
FAN SPEED - 2722rpm (56%)
GPU LOAD - 100% the whole time
MEM LOAD - 988MB
CURRENT DRAW - 51A

im VERY impressed how my 5850 is handling it, the game is playing beautifully and the card is at 100% all the time

But some people might only experience Metro and whilst i would disagree with them, i can understand why they might feel underwhelmed by it. First impressions are very important. Cancelling preorders is madness, but it might put them in a negative frame of mind for the rest of the game and before you now it they are just moaning as a default state:p

btw, i am running a 6950 2gb and i haven't updated drivers at all and i would say i have very good performance. I think i will wait until full release to update my drivers for it.

I actually run the exact same card, the vtx version likes to run a little warm :) I also have the normal drivers 11.8 I think, it ran fine for me as well on high settings. I run a q6600 at 3.0ghz you see. I ran the game fine on high, even ultra was OK, that is if it really was ultra. But even if I can only run on high, I doubt I will upgrade just for a few extra details. Not really worth the extra £300 I would need to spend :D not with current CPU's anyway. I would upgrade to next gen CPU's.

I may just overclock to 3.6 and see if ultra runs at 60+ then lol when retail comes out.

My 6950 was the hottest it has ever been when i was on CB yesterday. Everything on ultra with a little AA after around an hour Afterburner said it peaked at 78 degrees, that is with a fan speed peaking at 50%. Still very good imo but it's never been higher.

I am not to impressed do by the game so far , good sound yes , good effect yes , but there is missing something i dont know what exactly , but i have mixed feeling about the game i will see the rest of it , , lot of camping do , what you guys think?

my 480 SOC hits a 90 at 100% with all case fans on max, sounds like i'm getting ready to fly a chopper for real :(

My card is fairly new, i've only had it for about 3-4 months so that probably makes a lot of difference

That is a point actually, i don't think i have changed my case fans at all, that will make a difference.

I dont mind camping, its useful to stay alive not just rush and die which bothers me more.

This game is definitely using the CPU, my cooling sucks and its at 82. Much more and I might have to change from stock cooler :o
Not sure why it needs cpu so much

Memory usage is not so high, Arma2 uses 6gb and this uses under 4. Its enough to warrant 64bit as a good idea

Sound is good and the music also, is medic the quickest way to level when new.

Turned off all the AA, its not needed and its doubled the FPS but wont let me up terrain detail past medium

My Gigabyte GTX 460 1Gb hit 71'C which has only beaten by metro 2033 which managed 75's but it was considerably warmer in my room when I played that. Fan only maxed out at 50% though. GPU usage hit 99% (YAY!) and GPU memory hit 995MB! Very impressed with how my card is handling this. So much so I might just put off a new card until next year. if the new ATI cards are as amazing as everyone says (although the cynic in me says if they are they'll be highly priced and/or crippled to prevent them being so popular and so fast ATI/AMD won't sell another card all year) then I might wait until then.

New card would allow a new monitor which would be nice, but I hope the AMD 7000 series won't need more than a 550W PSU. New card, monitor and PSU might just be too much!

I don't mind "camping"

tbh FPS players will always moan about something.

If you run around you are usually some kind of console noob or something.
But If you stop for a nanosecond you are camping and will be called a camping noob.
If you kill someone with *gun you are a *gun noob(this always makes me lol, rocket noob, saiga noob etc)

Man up and get on with it!!!

:p

My temps dont go above 40c :P

Combined with the sun going supernova and it being SO WARM plus the way battlefield 3 seems to abuse the cpu and gpu usage and the temps to be higher than normal.

I decided to put the fan on the side of the computer while playing lmao...

Ghetto :P but it does fine haha.

Keeps the 5850 and i7 chilly haha.

So the IR 1x scope seems totally Overpowered. I feel like I am using a wallhack with it. Super effective indoors but not so drawn back it's impossible to use outdoors also.

Also, I am in love with C4, chucked one into a room full of people and popped em all :D

Man I am just down the road from you, christ it is hot isnt it m8.

hmm dont like how you get the normal crosshair with the sniper, never been like that before in a Battlefield game.

My temps are quite good i think i7 950 4.2@64c and my 5870 1000oc at 42c, got to love water:D utra settings low aa and no motion blur, avg42fps

Any advice on how I can run 1768x992 resolution in full screen without the black bars around my monitor? I am missing about 2cm from each corner due to the resolution. I have tried the in game setting using that adjust monitor position crap but it's not working.

I know I have to overscan it or underscan it but I don't know how. Been playing around with Nvidia control panel but can't seem to get it working in game. My native resolution is 1490x900 on my 23" monitor. I think my aspect ratio is 16:9 but not sure.

I feel that 1768x992 resolution gives me the best eye candy and performance. Getting 55-60fps average on metro using high settings with no AA/AF and using SBAO for dynamic light. I am surprised how well this game runs on my low level gpu. Using gtx 460 with only 768MB of vram. Using 99% of the gpu and using about 750mb of vram while playing metro.

Any help greatly appreciated.
