Indeed, I'm thinking of going for an FX4100 for a build I'm doing.
I thought the FX4100 was Q1 2012 at the earliest? Or do you have some good news?!
Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. why bring that in to itThe AMD fanboys in this thread are already making excuses for BD
everybody has different taste tho, the beans may taste fine/great to some people and maybe not to others...If those beans taste worse, are not as nutritious, contain less for the money, and you buy them because of a dewey eyed love for the company then yes, you'd be a fanboy.

Really no idea where you are going with this one.....pretty loony if you ask me.I don't think there is any danger of that.
The AMD fanboys in this thread are already making excuses for BD and are now beginning to look towards the next generation of AMD's architecture. What they don't seem to understand is that by the time AMD has their new CPU out, Intel will also have something new out, which will undoubtedly be faster than AMD's latest.
Personally, I think AMD's new CPU is a damp squib and is nothing major. The only good thing about it, is that competition for Intel will keep CPU prices realistic. Without AMD, Intel could basically charge whatever they wanted for their CPUs.
At present, Bulldozer is nothing more than vapour-ware and I wouldn't be surprised if the BD cpu didn't hit retail channels till December/January.
For enthusiasts looking for the fastest CPU available, I can only see Intel as being the viable option, for at least the next 6-12 months.
SO, no one is ignoring Ivybridge, you're ignoring we all know how it will perform, from Intel's own mouths. You're ignoring the potential for speed increases, and that AMD's architecture has FAR more room for tweaking than Intel's at the moment.
Is BD performing worse in games?
We don't know yet, that's the thing.
You get so much conflictual talk regarding CPU's and games.
Having gone from a hex @ 4.375GHZ to my 2500k, my frames are a lot more consistent, and this has been stated by a lot of people who've done similar stuff from Phenom II to SB.
If BD is around the same IPC performance, (ignoring OC's for now) then it's going to be the same as usual for games, but only if you were to compare the FX4100 with a Phenom II X4, as the 8150 will get a massive turbo boost.
Not really, it proves that throwing cores isn't a solution to lower IPC.Similar here but in my case it was a 1055T at 3.8 to a 2500k at 4.6 so I guess it's not too shocking.
