Big accident at the Nürburgring

I would love to do the ring but it would only ever be on a private day. No way I would go on a tourist loop.

Just watched that video.

ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS and NOWHERE near enough warning to adequaltely shave off speed on a corner prior to what is a crawling line of cars. What is, for all intent and purposes, a race track to be treated like a public road is disgusting. Despite what the technicalities of the stretch of road are everyone knows what they are going there for as does the business selling them the tickets.

That should have been HEAVILY marshalled and had much much more prior notice (You get more on the motorway at 70) Or you know....closed entirely.

Hopefully the video will be used in favour of the people involved in the inicident.

Along with the fact a Ring Taxi was going at a speed they could not avoid the accident is just fuel to the fire. If anyone should have been aware of the impending hazard it should have been a Ring Taxi driver, no?

Lifes too short to worry about the nitty gritty, go have fun and be safe ...

Im not sure how much longer the ring operate as we all know it :)

Pretty much sums up why I took the plunge and went last year.

‎Three other cars managed to slow down approaching the incident, but one was hit from behind by the 'Ring taxi.

Surprised that the Ring Taxi piled into the back of the accident that had already happened but I guess it is hard to get an idea of what happened unless you saw it.

Totally caused by the road works, tbh.

Its not like they can state they didn't expect people to arrive at them at that speed.

Its a road not a race track.

But that setup was like pushing a motorway into a single lane just after the brow of a hill, with very little warning. I think the fact the Ring taxi driver got caught out, someone who you would expect to know about the road works, shows how badly setup they were.

Watched the video posted earlier and 100% this TBH.

I think you have to be ready for the unknown on the ring but that was unnecessarily dangerous. If the sign had been another 100 yards or so earlier it would have been ten times better as it wouldn't have been obstructed by the corner.

On this occasion or ever?

There are never marshals for the touristfahren days as far as I'm aware, they are only there for races where the track is closed to the public.

Well, there are marshals, but they are not on track. They sit in the office by the gate and respond to reports of incidents etc.

Those roadworks were a rather stupid idea. I'd go far as to say negligent. Whatever should or shouldn't happen on that road, it is very well known what goes on, and so to establish roadworks without proper warning is willful negligence.

Stuff like that will get it closed down, and everyone will be wondering why! i had hoped to go this year, maybe next year now!

This is the section that was being repaired.

Very scarily little notice that anything is there, this guy was quite lucky not to stuff it into the car infront

That is insane , the guy in the vid had all on to stop in which seemed a powerful car. I'd of had no chance if I was driving!

Its one thing saying its a race track/public road but people are racing and should never be unless marshals are on the track and the right people/setup is in place, idiots driving on the limit, notice after the roadworks end the guy just boots it and passes 2 cars, like its a race.

You cant have it all to yourself, surly they had something up at the begging stating roadworks are taking place.
