Bosch washing machines are highly rated, although not as highly as Miele. I myself have a Bosch, and it's never missed a beat (touch wood) - it's the Logixx 8, if I remember right.

Always spend as much as you can afford on a washer, and don't skimp - it'll pay itself off in the long run.

Miele/Siemens/Bosch in that order.

Washing machines are something you don't really want to scrimp on. I'm well out of the loop now but when I used to work in a store similar to currys I would always try and sell Miele, simply because it was a guarentee I'd never get a customer on the phone screaming at me that their machine had packed in again.

We actually made less money on them, and rarely had promotions for selling them, so it was 100% not financially motivated on my part !

Siemens used to be Bosch, but better built (Higher quality motors, quieter, better door components)

Be careful with Bosch if you do go for them. Some (Precision it used to be called) are made in Spain, and the quality was awful.

You don't need to spend a lot of money! My washing machine cost £100 brand new in an MFI sale 6 years ago and hasn't missed a beat (touch wood)

If you can't afford Miele buy Bosch.

DO NOT buy Ariston, Indesit, Creda or Hotpoint.

Love advice like this! as said above my £100 Hotpoint has worked flawlessly for 6 years (touch wood) while my £800 Bosch oven is on it's second replacment control knob! Before that we had an ariston machine for a couple of years that my brother then had and is now in a house he rents out again it has worked perfectly for 7 -8 years.

Modernwhite goods are generally very reliabkle, just buy the best you can afford and don't get hung up and brand names.

Been looking at the Samsung ecobubble range...around £350. The landlady will be paying as the one in our flat is broken....it was a proper noisy thing too, shook the whole house. Hopefully she'll get something half decent.
