because people feel 'privileged' when they partake in a 'beta' even if said beta is just a marketing and isn't real testing. This way EA can say ' oh **** erm yea those bugs won't be there in the final release, it's beta moran! '. Companies have just jumped on the beta phrase to get away with it.
Was annoyed to see that when playing full screen at 2560x1440 the damn HUD is still falling off the screen like it did in the Alpha. My 6870 seems to run at full screen on high pretty well but might think about upgrading to get to mythical Ultra settings.
Where did you buy, have been looking myself?

was wonderng if anyone had this problem,if i install the game i can get in and play as long as i want but as soon as i leave and close origin and then go back and try play the game again it will load the BF3.exe in the taskbar then it just disappears,then i cant play the game at all till i unistall it and reinstall it,ive checked the task manager no BF3.exe running also turned of upnp and still wont play,anyone else ever had this cheers
Erm, i can't say, competitor, but i had to pay premium for it as i wanted a brand new card, and could only find second hand ones with recently made seller accounts.
So you're going from one 5970+5870 to 2x5870? Seems weird
5970 is borked mate, causing endless problems since i purchased it, and pretty much everyones 5970 in the beta is causing performance problems, hence why my 5870 could run it all on max, except i had to use 2xAA instead of 4xAA, the 5970 couldn't even hack that, i had to turn all AA off and put everything on high.

Ah I see. I just didn't get the drop in GPUs (with my understanding that the 5970 is dual GPU) but it makes sense now.

I think ppl understand it's a beta and we have been privilaged to try the beta out, i think what has peed ppl off especially the pc fan's is that were left with a rush COD style map, which doesn;t really show off BF3 potential, the questions they will ask themselves is whether they would have sold more worldwide if they had caspian border as the beta with rush for xbox/ps3 users, they would have had greater feedback, What they have now is people being pessimistic as to whether this will be the game of the year also be better than MW3.
True. I've just cancelled my preorder, not because I'm e-raging or anything but just because I don't think spending an extra tenner over the retail price (origin copy) was worth it to get 2 days early access to a map that I already played to death in the alpha. I'm happy to wait until release because I'd rather pour salt in my eyes than play another round of metro.
That's because the iron sight is not part of a rail mount, its fixed to the gun.
You get the same thing on the M16a3, it's true to life.
The point people are making though, is that it's not really a beta. You don't get a beta 1 month before release - that's a demo. Betas in the old days were a good 6 months (at least) before the actual game.
As poor as the recent TDU2 was, they actually did a proper beta that started a full 9 months before the release of the game with actual interaction between devs and testers. My suggestion of implementing weather change more often and more frequent storms, got a nod from a community manager, an okay from a dev, and the result was it being patched in, in the following patch - that's a real beta.
This along with RO2's 'beta' are simply marketing ploys. In this case they are using old code and so have little use for user feedback. In the case of RO2, they simply named it a beta to cover their arses should any shoddy odd ends pop their heads up - that's why on the majority of gameplay trailers you see now, they have some caption about it being alpha footage and not true to the finished product - so that if it looks like a pile of crap, they have an excuse.

i agree, it almost seems like they called it a beta so that people would be accepting of its flaws
but nevertheless, i still think it is a great game
