DC Universe Online

No trials before F2P? Oh well their mistake.
I didn't really see much in it, looked too heavily modified for consoles but a trial would've shown that, wonder how many subs they lost that way.

I created this thread way back in 2009...http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18052927

It goes F2P end of Oct and those who think it caters more for console (PS3), you couldn't be more wrong. It's more PC based than you think. They haven't lost subs cos it's going F2P. If anything it is starting to generate a bigger buzz and bringing in more players. At least until SWTOR is released. And since the server merge, more and more people are playing and enjoying what the game has to offer.

Amazing how people are quick to judge when they haven't even given it a chance themselves.

Are SOE feeling okay?

And I wouldn't ask about the state of SOE just cos it's going F2P. We all know what they're like anyway. But making this game F2P seems to be the best way forward...not that I am complaining since I paid Lifetime sub way back in April and cannot stop playing the game at all.

I know SOE are doing well, it was more in the sense that SWG could have gone F2P.

I was in the beta for this, even though I wasn't paying I still thought it was rubbish.

Main problem was the combat was mindless mouse bashing, similar to a dynasty warriors game.

Awful, awful, awful.

About time, wasnt this game originally intended to be f2p from launch?

Did enjoy it for time i did play, but there wasnt really enough going on to keep me engaged if im honest.

Regarding SWG, I imagine everything that has happened to that game NGE onwards has been entirely based on contractual obligations with LucasArts, hence why it closes 1 week before SWTOR is launched

And since the server merge, more and more people are playing and enjoying what the game has to offer.

Server merges are usually an indication of low population spread out and the need to bring them together to increase it. As well as the old sting that mmos get when going F2P is that, they aren't doing as well as they first did.
In fact, never in a decade have I seen a server merge for any other reason.
I don't believe it, as I'm allowed to but I do want to try it.

Then you understand that ftp = lots of items and services for sale = income = soe wanting a slice.

I think his point is that SOE have been very slow to grasp this fact, keeping many of their older games stubbornly P2P, and even when they do make a game F2P, doing it in a weird half-assed way like they did with EQ2.

Thought I'd see how the game has come along and try the f2p, in case I was wrong...its f2p what have I got to lose.

Do I download the old client or will there be a special free client? Thanks.
